Re: Fire effect

Stan

Register with the Edius forum on the Grass Valley website and ask the question there as well, there may be other effects software suitable that is cheaper than Boris

Re: 4K cameras

Great that you enjoyed yourself in the smoke (London).

Re: CHEAP PRESENTS FOR FILM MAKERS

Search in ebay for.......camera bag inserts

Then you can use any old bag to house your camera safely

Or

You can add inserts into an existing bag that just does not have enough seperators for all your toys

Re: 4K cameras

Is the x70 not listed as 4k ready?

I seem to remember seeing that the 4k is only via a paid upgrade so this is something I suggest you check out.

Re: 4K cameras

Echo John's comments

My G6 has the 14-140 lens which is SLR equivalent 28-280 on my camera hence a great versatile lens on a lightweight camera

Re: Where to from here?

Perhaps the question should be:-

What can the IAC and its affiliated clubs offer to young movie makers?

Re: 4K cameras

No problem Lumix cameras have an Ai button or setting on the control wheel that gives auto everything. It is on my G6 and my Wifes Fz200 bridge camera, which by the way is superb, constant f2.8 from 25 to 600 and mike accessory socket, so it should be on the GH4. There is now a 4k bridge in the Lumi...

Re: 4K cameras

Its a shame, if I remember correctly you have not had the camera for long but I know what you mean.

I now prefer to video using the dslr cameras that I have.

Do take a serious look at a Panasonic GH4

Re: Where to from here?

Everyone has the right to criticise any management, the management were elected by and work for the members, so if they do not have dialogue with the members and interact with them they are failing us. It has nothing to do with if you do not like it stand for the committee yourself mentality. Is the...

Re: Where to from here?

Alas Lee as ever I fear that your very succinct observations and comments shall gain no reflection or support from within the self perpetuating managerial style of the incumbent leaders.

Re: What to Shoot and What Not To Shoot.

Yes, thats spot on. Its memories, that they are shooting thats all. If you try to shoot using an iPad, then good luck, it is unbelievably difficult to hold the thing steady. Even using a mobile phone to video is very difficult to get a steady shot, the ergonomics are all wrong. If you can get steady...

Re: Film look

John

You are getting on shaky ground, in the past when I have commented on the continued use if nostalgia in posts and been resolutely attacked.

Film is a has been media, its time to move on.

The very new members we need to recruit we born in the video era.

Re: Film look

Film look I really miss the scratches, the vertical lines, the spurious hair that always found its way into the gate, the fuzzy edges around the projected image, the muted colours and the whirr and clatter of the projector, not to mention the miss tracking causing sticking and burning of the film. O...

Re: DSLR vs Prosumer??

The GH4 is a great camera and has 4k capabilities, if you do not want to spend that much look at the G6. I have one and it has manual audio level controls if you wish, a socket for an external mike and best of all in automatic mode iA it is point and shoot. I also have a 7D and that is not a point a...
