Re: FVM articles

Picture and sound quality are of course very important and we have come a long way since I bought my first camera (Super 8) in 1968. We have gone through quite a few film and video cameras since usually wearing them out or changing to a new model when there is a breakdown. Audiences notice very litt...

Re: FVM articles

Thanks Tom. Yes I think we do like to know people are reading what we are writing for FVM. From time to time, I do get an e-mail from a reader (as I have done this week as a reader suggested a new plot for a film) commenting on something I have put or asking a further question. This is why I asked f...

Re: FVM articles

I thought I had missed something here. Tom is saying about articles in FVM and the fact that you/ we shouldn`t complain about them as no-one is getting paid? This sort of suggests that someone (or more than one someone?) has complained. Or am I reading this incorrectly? The magazine is full of vario...

Re: BIAFF ONLINE ...

Well unfortunately, I saw none of it! I registered and hoped to see some of it, but the big problems with a virtual BIAFF (no other choice this year) is that real life takes over. If it`s a traditional weekend away and it`s all booked and paid for, it is virtually set in stone unless there is some m...

Re: Anyone out there?

Well there have been lots of interesting points made on here since I last logged in! First I will answer Ned when he asks about editing systems and which cameras are used. I don`t know how far behind you are with issues of FVM Ned, as I wrote a Q & A piece for the August issue which covered thes...

Re: Anyone out there?

Wow Howard. And I thought I was obsessive! It sounds like you are editing as the filming is still ongoing? I like to wait until everything is completely shot and on the PC. I know then that once I start editing, there will be no delays as all the material is there. Re-shoots and going back to do &qu...

Re: Anyone out there?

Yes I am still here too! All my film work has been stopped since a wedding in mid-March and instead I have spent months doing D.I.Y. in the house and garden. I wrote a new script in September/ October 2019 for a comedy film which we started shooting just before the bad weather arrived and we planned...

Re: BIAFF 2020 RESULTS

We had not yet booked for BIAFF in May, but intended to be there. We have only missed one festival since joining the IAC in 1994, so even though we had no films entered this year, we would have been there. This has happened several times previously with no films entered, when we just enjoy the weeke...

Re: COVID-19

Yes we were judges at this years Burnley festival and had everything prepared a couple of weeks ago. We had the films here on DVD to be viewed and judged and critiques written up. The parcel of films was ready to be posted when Ron Harrison from Burnley rang to say the festival was postponed...NOT c...

Re: FVM February 2020

To add my two-pennyworth...I am not making a big issue of it (not the magazine Big Issue) but the picture of a camera in church on my pages was not taken by me. I had no images suitable or easily accessible for this article, so an image from stock was used it seems. I knew nothing about it until I s...

Re: FILM & VIDEO MAKER MAGAZINE

I have it on authority from a "reliable well-placed source" that the extra pages are a one off due to an excess of material being submitted and the next issue will revert back to "normal".

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

I have been meaning to add new posts about the BIAFF event but time has been in short supply just now. We have bought a new puppy, a Border Collie, so we now have two farm bred Collie`s and this takes up quite a bit of time. However...to reply to Tim, yes we can send private messages about comedy Ti...

Re: FVM Magazine May 2019

I like the fresh new look! I have always liked the "Letters" pages but I suspect Garth got very few of these, but nice to see there is one in this issue. The BIAFF results always take up several pages, so not as much to read this time, but let`s see what happens for the next one and the is...
