Re: Magix movie editor

Dave, thanks for your note. I agree completely with your comments but what the situation amounts to is that for a NLE programme to become accepted it needs a big effort on the part of someone. The pioneers of the popular applications have made the effort and we now have the widespread user base to s...

Re: Magix movie editor

I can now report that I have fought my way through Magix, (Movie Edit Pro 15+), to the point where I have successfully produced a MiniDV tape of a short HD edit and played it on my 40” Plasma TV. The problem I had with the refusal of an object, (clip), to transfer to the time line was, I think, asso...

Re: Magix movie editor

Thanks for the quick reply Billy. I am trying to replicate the basic editing procedure that I use in Premiere. ie Batch capture, then trim, then drag down to the time line. So far I have been able to batch capture but then find that when I load the clip into the monitor window and set the in and out...

Re: Magix movie editor

A plea for help from the Magix members of our community. I have dabbled with Magix, (Movie Edit Pro 15 plus), previously but have now the time available to have a serious attempt at getting to grips with it. The programme does many and wondrous things but as a start I wish to ‘Capture’, ‘Edit’ and b...

Re: Canon Legria HV40 camcorder

Delighted to be able to make a technical contribution.

The Canon Legria HV40 records in HD and can download either HD or SD.

Re: Editing mixed formats

Dave

I'm sure you are well acquainted with the Asbestos Information Centre, (the AIC), at www.aic.org.uk, although I'm not too sure that they will be much use advising on editing in mixed formats. Anyone following this thread would be better advised sticking with the IAC.

Re: Editing mixed formats

Dave It has taken a long time but I eventually got my hands on the Sony and the recorded tapes. I have to report that your first method worked. The Cam comes with a disc containing a programme which allows the .mpg files to be copied from the solid state media to, in my case, my lap top. From the la...

Re: WIPES or SOMETHING WITH EFFECTS in CS3

Like Dave I use Premiere Pro and because I have a rotten memory I make a note of the method used. The following is a copy of my note:- The object of the exercise is to have a map in Premiere and then to have a route traced on it. The route will appear gradually, running from the start position to th...

Re: Magix movie editor

Hi Roy Just read your post of the 7th. I will PM you with my location details and would be glad to get together on the subject of Magix. You sound just about as enthusiastic about the application as I do. Interested but a little annoyed at the poor quality of the manuals and wondering if the effort ...

Re: Magix movie editor

I find that when I capture footage from my Canon HV40 high def camcorder into Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus that the ‘Records’ have the extension .mpg. Is this normal? I am trying to understand the rudiments of HD editing by capturing a few clips of footage and then taking it through to the burning s...

Re: Your next Camcorder?

Thanks for the comments on my soul searching on the subject of camcorder selection. There is of course no one solution suitable for everyone, it depends where in the spectrum of camcorder users you lie. I set out to decide on a new camcorder for myself and the subject then exploded into a considerat...

Re: Your next Camcorder?

With 8030 views the “Your next Camcorder?” thread clearly shows what is taxing the minds of forum visitors. I have spent the last few weeks looking at the opinions and advice available on the forum and elsewhere whilst trying unsuccessfully to unlock the secrets of Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus. More...

Re: Magix movie editor

Thanks Leif. As with all video editing systems you have to face a bit of grief with 'Settings' before you get into the system proper. I knew I would soon be into the jungle that is 'pixel ratio'. Nightmare. As I am using a high definition camcorder I assume that I should use 1280 x 720 16:9. If I wi...

Re: Magix movie editor

I wondered if anyone in receipt of the Magix software at the Newcastle presentation had made any progress with the application. Having now resolved my Adobe Encore difficulties with the assistance of contributors to this Forum I am now turning my attention to ‘Magix Edit Pro 15 Plus’. I find that th...

Re: Your next Camcorder?

Anyone following this thread in the hope of finding a solution to the Encore problem that I have been discussing would be disappointed as the answer came via the AIC NLE group. The solution was not quite like burying three chicken livers in a south facing garden on the night of the full moon but alm...
