Re: our beautiful surroundings
Hi John, Yes, it's getting good ! :D Very nice footage, well cut, and well mixed sound ! The new tripod is doing a great job and straight horizons make so much difference ! On the 3 shots of Kai, taken from your first shoot, you could straighten up the horizons in post. That is, if your edit/fx soft...

Re: Club Films on Youtube
Film Thursos' attitude is 100% correct in this matter !! The only advice / opinion that I would add is if you are going to put your material on a 'social movie site', then DON'T use YouTube, but open a VIMEO account !! VIMEO is by far the more 'mature' site when it comes to amateur/independant film ...

Tony,
Link now works for me.
Some nice work here ! In particular the grip work / camera movements. Sound is also well mixed.
I look forward to being able to view the complete film when it is finished.
Kind regards,
Fred D

Re: Titanic Inspired
Hi Desmond, Nicely put together, with good 3dAnimation shots. Nice timing and all together a pleasant view ! My only crit' would be the total lack of any 'credits'. At this level of film making and presentation, it is generally accepted that you run credit titles to acknowledge the people, organisat...

Re: down at the beach
Some advice John 8) Get a new tripod with a fluid head and some bubbles. Dont skimp on this purchase. When you've got it, and set it up for a shot with the bubbles so that it pans level, DON'T pan left and right all the time, that is almost as 'amateur' and disturbing to the viewer as using the lens...

Re: Cine equipment available ...free !
Hi Grumpy, I would be very interested in collecting all the equipment from Cork. I am an active filmmaker and still use 'film', as well as digital ! I was first a member of the IAC in 1959, when I made my first film in 16mm on a borrowed (from my father) Bolex H16. Can you email me at: timecodebandi...

Re: Hot keys and SD Cards.
Hi John, You could try formatting your new cards befor you use them. You will find the software to do that here : https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ Panasonic suggest that using this formatter, instead of the generic format command in your PC operating system, will make your cards more re...

Re: Pinnacle 12
Hi Pete, A quick look at the Pinnacle Studio 12 specifications will tell you that Studio 12 is the BASIC version and does not handle HD. It is the enry level version of the software, and one needs to buy Studio 12 Plus or Studio 12 Ultimate in order to be able to work with HD content. I would say th...

Re: Making one character monochrome in a colour sequence
Hi John (through Dave), If I was going to do this in post, I would use After Effects. There are several ways this could be done in AE, but I would probably use the Roto Brush to create a Matte and then Desaturate (or Tint) my monochrome character, then Motion track and composite back with my colour ...

Re: Telephoto lens required for filming waders.
Hi John,
When you are ready to look for a Digiscoping solution to your telephoto requirements
you could try : SRB Griturn Ltd at this URL : srbfilm.co.uk
They can supply all the necessary parts that you will need to mount your 'scope' on
to your video camera.

Fred Dorsett
