Re: Downloading Tapeless Files on Location

Question Michael - do you use auto-focus for anything? I turn AF off for some drama stuff, where I've got a moment to frame and focus the shot, but for live action stuff like an occasional wedding or stage show, I use AF, as I just couldn't keep up, or have the confidence to do without it. I also se...

Re: Composer Looking For Project

Hope you get some take-ups on your offer. Anyone making movies wants that special music.
I'll keep you in mind - so thanks for your info.

Re: AVCHD camcorders

I've been trying for some time in helping a friend to get Sony Vegas Pro 9 Platinum to edit 16Mb AVCHD. 1920 x 1080 m2t files sure are awkward to edit, with stability. My mate has an i7 920 chip, 6GB of ram, 9600GT graphics, 650watt power and 2x1TB HDD's equiped rig, non-overclocked. The rendering p...

Re: Magix movie editor

I have made a number of DVD's made from HDV edited material. The optimum settings still baffle me. I use a data rate of about 7.5Mb/s but don't know if hitting the Progressive option should be the best one to choose. The same question applies to the exporting of a new mpeg file from an HDV timeline ...

Re: Magix movie editor

I wonder if an external Blu-ray writer/player can be plugged into a computer's firewire and so be a portable writer/player?

Re: FILM SOUND

I bought it in 1987, with the intention of getting my first CD player, but came out with a new turntable. The guy in the shop persuaded me that it sounded better than most typical CD players.

There is a different sound to turntables though - the bass response sounds stronger.

Re: Passwords

A friend of mine reset her hotmail password to stop her ex-husband checking her emails - but did it after she'd had a few glasses of wine.

That was the end of her lifelong Hotmail account - she tried for weeks to get back into it ...

Re: COPYING ONES OWN DVDS'S

I bought a double layer disk a few years ago - for £5. I compiled of data to burn to it.

Result - one unreadable disk! Haven't bought one since, after wasting £5.

They are cheaper now, I'll try em again. Biaff will accept blu-ray I'm told.

Re: COPYING ONES OWN DVDS'S

Hey Ned that's a tasty bit of info! Seriously I thought you need a blu-ray writer to burn a blu-ray compatible high def movie on a standard DVD. I'll see if Nero 9 can do it.

Cheers.

Re: Future of radio mics

The analogue 'switch off' seems to be the most concern to those who use radio mics in areas where other film crews have used up some of the frequency options. Can you comment Tom, on whether the signals buzzing though the air from 2011, wherever you are, will just stop our Sennheiser kits from trans...

Re: Magix movie editor

I've got Magix installed but haven't used it much as I've CS4. I tried a capture from my HDV cam and it went how it should. Start Magix and name a new project. In the app make sure the Record option is on (top right of screen) You should have you camera on and in play mode. Hit the record option in ...

Re: COPYING ONES OWN DVDS'S

He should be able to use an app like Nero and just select "copy disk" and it should produce a mirror copy of your disk, menus and all.

ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS: Unless the circus was in town, I'm going with male.

Re: Projector Screens (again!)

16:9 will be the standard for years I'd think. I mean, if the quality of VHS was accepted by the masses for so long, what will get the masses all to swap their tellies for even wider and shorter models? My plasma telly allows proper movie ratio films to be shown properly mind.
