Billy, my initial impression upon seeing the Z7 was, 'I want one'. But I should say that the Z1 has never let me down, never faltered and never failed to bring home the goods, whatever the lighting or weather conditions. So I went to the Video Forum at Earls Court and tried my much-loved Bolex Asphe...

We're getting a bit off topic here but just to say in judging the North West Region film competition I was sent a Mini DV tape recorded in HDV by a Canon HV10. I couldn't play it on either of my Sony HDV cams, so incompatibilities are commonplace. The good news is that upscaling DVD players work ver...

The FX1 at £800 is a snip. It's under half new price and seeing as how you know the seller - that's worth a lot when you buy secondhand. You say it's 'well used'. You mean tired and whacked out or just used weekly? I've just sold a VX2000 for £750 so I consider the FX1 at £800 to be a fair price. Ch...

The whole point about the Letus is that it's designed to be used with video cameras with fixed lenses, Billy. There are losses of course (light and added grain), but the gains in pictorial quality make for very interesting pictures. I liked reading your 'techy piece' and hope you get it in FVM. By n...

Have you all had a look at the IOV's 'Focus' mag? It's good. They get a ton of adverts and as such they get lots of kit to test. I've written for them in the past and as with FVM it's zero payment. So I've often wondered if we couldn't join forces with them in some way - having the 'IAC PAGES' in th...

You say, 'the Editor who has been lumbered single-handed with the job', yet Garth was offered the job, knew the constraints and requirements and is paid a salary. He probably sweats a bit when articles are thin on the ground. As all the other contributors supply their articles freely, it's mighty ha...

While we're talking about amateur films and their titles, might I make a plea for restraint? A size restraint, that is. I've just judged the North West Region's annual film competition, and one of the things that struck me is the size and colour of the title fonts that are very often used. When thes...
