Re: Adobe Premier Elements (Books on)

I've been using Adobe Premiere Elements 7 for quite some time now, and I am extremely happy with it. The software is very easy to use and does everything I want it to do. I am reluctant to upgrade just in case my old projects disappear fom my hard drives, if you know what I mean. But version 7 suits...

Re: From tape to memory card

Sorry Michael, But I have to disagree with you and say that the cameras you have listed do look like slightly smaller versions of professional cameras. The Sony Z5 - EX1 - and the PXW Z150 may look like small amateur cameras to you, but to most people in the street who don't make films, and some of ...

Re: EXTERNAL BLU-RAY BURNERS

The question still remains. When I send my film to The BIAFF at the end of the year, which format should I use if I want the judges to see a high-definition image? Do they really want a USB stick tied to a luggage label? Tim, you may well say that it's the content that matters, not the medium. And a...

Re: EXTERNAL BLU-RAY BURNERS

Dear Michael, You paint a very sad picture for me regarding Blu-ray discs. You say that few people want Blu-rays rather than DVDs, but surely the number of people entering Blu-rays in The BIAFF must be increasing slightly? I really don't want to use USB sticks for sending to other people. How do I l...

Re: EXTERNAL BLU-RAY BURNERS

Many thanks for your reply, Michael. I have been using a LaCie DVD burner for a couple of years now. I also have a LaCie Quadra Hard Drive which I am very happy with. Unfortunately I don't think LaCie make Blu-ray burners any more, which is a great pity. I may be wrong, but I can't trace these burne...

EXTERNAL BLU-RAY BURNERS

Please help me.

Could anyone recommend an external Blu-ray burner, with USB connections (obviously) to use on a PC?
USB 2 or USB 3.

I can see various makes on ebay, but which ones can I trust?

Re: Voice Overs query

I completely disagree with Tim Stannard's comment, who said on Sunday 22nd May 2016. "On no account repeat in the voice-over, the words in the text" A powerful statement, which I believe is wrong. Before you take Tim Stannard's advice, please take a look (and listen) to the first 40 second...

Re: BIAFF 2016 - WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR RESULTS?

Talk about nit-picking. Why are you so pedantic about 'Fiddler's Walk' Tim? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI-pQzXCf5E&feature=player_detailpage In my humble opinion, it's a brilliant, and funny look at the world of judges, film judging, film competitions, and corruption in general. Haven't you...

Re: BIAFF 2016 - WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR RESULTS?

If you're really interested,

I helped on the production of a film which was awarded 4 stars.

FIDDLER'S WALK

Let me know what you think, but don't be too shocked.

I'd love to know how many stars you would have given it.

Re: BIAFF 2016 - WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR RESULTS?

Congratulations.

That's amazing news, well done.

Considering I haven't had my results yet.

How on earth do you already know that three of your films are being screened at BIAFF?

Re: DESKTOP COMPUTERS FOR HD EDITING

Many thanks for all the replies and advice on buying a desktop computer for HD editing. It seems to me that I should buy something like an HP desktop computer, and as long as it has an i7 chip starting with 4XXX, I should be all right. I'll let you know how I get on. Just to say that computerplus is...

DESKTOP COMPUTERS FOR HD EDITING

Could someone on this forum please help me, and let me know what make of desktop computer I can buy, off the shelf, in a shop, that will edit HD footage smoothly. It must be a PC and not an Apple. If it helps, I use Adobe Premiere Elements. I am very happy with it and do not intend changing that sof...

Re: A guide to a PC's specifcation

Dear Col,

I don't understand specifications all that well.
I assume that i7 is faster than i5, but that's all I know.

Please can you specify a make and model number of a desktop computer that will edit HD smoothly and won't take 60 minutes to render 12 minutes of film on my timeline?

Thank you
