I had Animal Planet round filming my house yesterday!

Last week, Animal Planet called me about my Youtube channel, saying they're making a series called MyCatsGoneViral, and could they film the cats for a day sometime? I said yes, certainly, and they said how about next weds? We're flying a crew over from Canada!!! so then I started on a 3 day tidy up ...

Re: Attracting New Members

Well these 6 pages created a lot of hot air! Hehehe... Although there seems to have been a few idea thrown about there seems to be no positive way forward to evolve and transform 'The IAC' into an organisation that any film maker would want to be a part of. I guess things will just carry on as they...

Re: Attracting New Members

I think it's a little too modest for you to think this is a one way street with the forum. The thing that a lot of IAC members don't realise is that you're not taking, by using the forum, you're actually GIVING. If people didn't use the forum, then it would be dead, and people would visit and then l...

Re: Attracting New Members

Chris - I knew that! Nothing to stop you re-joining though, and getting stuck in (with like-minded others) and moving 'IAC' on to what it should, could and can become. Of course, I was kinda expecting that response :-) but the fact remains, that the IAC is not an organisation that I want to join. T...

Re: Attracting New Members

And finally, Yes to Chris - but are you as a youngster (cf me) prepared to get involved in doing what you say is required? It needs that sort of incisive insight to move things forward. And more of you... As you know, I'm already involved with OVFM, but as for the IAC, I'm not even a member! I stop...

Re: Attracting New Members

I think the IAC is stuck between a rock and a hard place. The structure of leisure 'organisations' or whatever the word is has changed since the 70s when the IAC's structure was developed. There is no shortage of filmmakers, and no shortage of filmmaker organisations either, but unfortunately, the I...

Re: Attracting New Members

There is a saying I often mull over in my mind - "If you want something you've never had before, you have to do something you've never done before." I feel the IAC needs to adapt and be more open to ideas and change.. In a discussion about saving a fairly significant film competition, I ma...

Re: green screening

That's a really clean key there, but the thing that I find very difficult to master, is that it still looks instantly recognisable as greenscreen. I wonder what specific aspects make it so? I don't think anyone can just say "lighting" - that's a weak answer - it's more like atmospherics - ...

Re: they were short

All the internals of the sub were shot in our Club meeting hall where we constructed a mock up of the sub's internals using MDF, pipe insulation and a plethora of old guages that our Prop Man had aquirred http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ2MrYN2QAQ&feature=plcp Is another in the war series, this...

Re: CS5 manual

Personally, if someone says something in a forum that I don't understand, (Which happens plenty!) I say so, and ask them to explain. I've never had anything but full, helpful and courteous responses. Their first reply was because they *wanted* to help! Books seem to create more questions than answer...

Re: CS5 manual

Fred D. Thanks for your interest. I have herard of Creative Cow and have now and then used their output. I have many tutorials, but they don't tell you how to fix things when the programme does things it shouldn't. If the program's doing things it shouldn't, isn't that a bug? Do classroom in a book...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

Chrisbitz, of course I want people to enjoy my films and for a wide audience. Three or four recently have been broadcast in the last couple of years and the alpaca one got highest ratings for that week they told me. They also sold a huge number of DVD's of the hounds film (fees to the IAC). It's ju...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

Not wishing to be misunderstood as Willy was I can honestly say I heartily dislike YouTube. First of all I don't really understand how it all works, although I believe some of my shorter 1970's films are on it somewhere, I can't find them. Secondly I don't really want my films viewed on a tiny comp...

Re: DVD will not play on PC

google for MS fixit DVD There is a program that MS have made that fixes all kinds of ills with DVD drives. it's free and you just run it, and often it just fixes your problem.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to let us know what Operating system you have.

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

The funny thing is, I "love" YouTube.

I earn a significant amount of money from my videos every month, and I watch easily 2 hours a day of videos there too.

I think you "hate" the person you did the translation for! :-)
