Manifesto for Change

* This compilation follows from previous discussions in other threads * The fact is that IAC membership numbers are declining, and the existing membership age profile is noticeably lacking of younger people. Without 'Change', this trend will continue until the inevitable happens! ...This proposed '...

Re: To Think Differently

The trailer is a gamble. Personally i like the unfinished statements/unanswered questions, it captures my interest Yes and doing it this way is like a filter, because only 'curious' sort of people would be interested in the film anyway. So chopping a sentence just before it makes its point is like ...

Re: The Sister Wives

I watched it and found it extremely powerful. It touched me personally, as you might expect. It illustrates how a re-enactment is more powerful than someone just speaking their story. One touch of reality that really drew me in, was where they were reluctant to speak without a condition being met, f...

Re: To Think Differently

Thanks Tim, Yes it was cathartic getting this out, I have made previous presentations, but this one surpassed them all so the others have been deleted... I found there is just too much to say, the talks would go on for hours and hours. In the original plan, much of the centre part was arranged to be...

Re: The Cloud - discuss?

Actually I watched it through twise, and I did enjoy it, but as I said the emotional build-up was not quite right... well that is what I felt. I think when things get changed, it becomes awfully difficult, as some parts which are changed were gradual lead-ins for significant parts of the story later...

Re: To Think Differently

Thanks for those comments, much appreciated. Yes it was all self-filmed. The seemingly redundant scenes, like road journeys, pauses and nature pans, are actually intended to give time for the content to be absorbed. The music score is only 40 beats per minute which is very slow, and my speach is slo...

To Think Differently - discuss

My film: ' To Think Differently ' is of a different genre, but also did very badly at BIAFF. -- From the Judge's comments I realised they did not understand what the Antagonist is, so all else fails! ...But it is very thoughtful and deep. 53 minutes long. It is the true story of my journey of discov...

Re: The Cloud - discuss?

I found it a nice story but the emotion build-up for the audience was not quite right... Where was the climax supposed to be; the assault with the monkey wrench, the reversal with the newspaper article, or when we learn in the launderette that Danny stopped him murdering the blackmailer but a violen...

Re: For discussion

Ned, at the top of this thread, you said: "It did very badly at BIAFF. What do you think?"

Considering our positive regards for the film, did you learn why they marked you down?

Re: For discussion

True, but if I represented an award giving organisation, the "Star Rating" would reflect my organisation's views -- most probably subliminally... But this film highlights the extreme divide between valid religious and atheist viewpoints. So would not all judging inevitably have some prejud...

Re: For discussion

From my perspective, I found the film to be well made, but 'not my cup of tea' as I am mostly on the opposite side of the argument regarding spiritual issues. That aside, the photography, audio and editing were great. The story had beginning, middle and end with the pace quickening as the story prog...

The words 'censored' and 'sadistic' are appropriate to my strong feelings in the above contexts. Whatever our personal opinion regarding Competitions, Festivals and the Art of Film , the facts remain that IAC membership numbers are declining, and the existing membership age profile is very lacking o...

Re: Jameela

In my censored two page article: 'Speaking Truth To Power', I showed by way of pictures how we could model a film festival on a motorfest! Other models could be music festivals like Jazz festivals or Boogie Woogie festivals. They are not competitions, they are multi-venue festivals!! In the previous...

Re: Website providers

Dear Peter, There are actually two issues, the domain name (www. - ) and the hosting provider (where your files are stored on the internet). ...There are many companies that would do this for you, but there is hassle and expense. For what you need, setting up a Facebook group might be easier, more e...
