The way this works is by reversing the phase of one of the channels. Since a solo vocalist is usually dead centre of the stereo image, his/her voice is then 180 degrees out of phase on one side, so when the channels are mixed back together it disappears. Obviously it won`t work if a mono image is di...

Just a thought --
Don`t many systems record and edit directly in MPEG-4?
So the files are in fact a lot smaller than you think, and can be smaller than regular SD .avi files?
This is the case with Ulead VideoStudio 10 Plus and 11 Plus, and others no doubt offer the option.

Uploading pictures

Easy peasy! All you have to do is compress your picture in jpg so that it is quick to up/download, upload it to your OWN web space, then link to it by clicking [Img] on the menu above where you write your message. It takes a bit of planning and time, but if a job is worth doing it is worth doing well.

Firearms available!

It is very easy to get hold of de-activated firearms of ALL types for films. Is there a military history society in your area? There almost certainly is. Members of that society will have collections of weapons of every possible type, from massive trailer-mounted Howitzers to little automatic pistol...

AVI files in DVD players

It is not whether it is DVD-R or DVD+R which counts. The following conditions ALL need to be met: The player must run fast enough to collect all the data in real time; It must be able to recognize and use AVI files; The DVD must have a file system that the player can recognize and use. If all three ...

We could be criticised on the grounds of social exclusion.
We would be discriminating against those with more money than sense!

What is absolutely vital is that titles and subtitles must have correct spelling, etc.
Even if YOU do not notice mistakes, to others they can really jump out of the screen!

I am 62 (where do the decades go)?

The problem with film graduates and other media studies types is that they all hope to be professionals. It`s only when they get to 60 plus that it dawns on them that the call from the producer with a 10 million-pound budget is never going to come, and that they are only amateurs after all! The IAC ...

It probably needs a modified E6 process (modified mainly to remove the anti-halation backing).
Sounds obvious but ... have you tried asking Kodak? As they provide the chemicals they will know who processes it!

Ulead VideoStudio will do that, certainly form version 6 upwards.
It is very cheap from amazon.co.uk
"Cheap" does not mean "inferior". Ulead do excellent programs that are very easy to use.

Wide horizontal lines -- a venetian blind effect -- are usually caused by one of the two heads on the drum being dirty. Clean both heads with a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Leave to dry --- VERY IMPORTANT -- before putting a tape in again. (If you do not, the tape will stick and get chewed up). Of ...

I think some of you are confusing "Institute" with "Institution".
The latter being the workhouse or lunatic asylum.

Others will no doubt draw their own conclusions as to whether IAC members should be in either of those institutions!

Non-commercial film forever!

I agree with the n-c idea. The term "amateur" is widely seen as a term of abuse. Was Vincent Van Gogh an amateur? After all, he did not sell any paintings! In the arts, the term "amateur" is not used. Getting paid or not, or getting someone else to pick up the bill, is irrelevant...
