I got my renewal for FVM today, and I have to say, sadly, I didn't renew either. I don't have any magic suggestions on what the IAC should do, but all I can offer is sincere feedback. I've been a subscriber for 3 years, and I can honestly say that I have never excitedly opened the mag, and sat and r...

Regarding the mixer, I spent a lot of time talking to people at the video forum show, and it seems that you can get great video mixers at reasonable prices (£600) but none of them do sound as well, so if you want to fade from one picture to another, you need to have one hand on the video fade, and a...

You were so going to get everyone posting "This is my favourite editing program" sort of answers, right from the start! :-) If you love your editing prog, stick with it, and just do a google search for "mov to avi converter" or something like that... http://movietoolbox.com/conve...

I don't mean to be *just* controversial, but the huge emphasis on HD still bugs me. It bugs me in the same way that someone with lots of money, will go out and buy the most expensive kit, and then dance around acting like the best film-maker in the world, just beccause they have all this fancy kit. ...

About OVFM... (50 years young, and still growing strong!) I think the big thing (in recent times) is our website, and we have a great press secretary, that always seems to get a mention in the local paper, with a mention of our website at the bottom. I guess the internet is great at attracting youn...

make a film shaming and embarassing your new mayor, put it on youtube, and PUBLICISE IT! :-) 20 of you could put up a lot of posters between you! If he doesn't change his mind, you'll still have made his life uncomfortable for a while... and you'll be sticking up for all the other clubs that don't h...

Whilst I think it would be nice if copyright issues would be waived for non-commercial ventures, there's the pretty well-known fact that in copyright law, if you're not seen to be protecting and defending it, you lose it. So if the BBC allowed their copyright to be infringed by you, then in a subseq...

Yep, I've heard of this a couple of times before. Where the firewire connector goes onto the Motherboard, if you reverse it, (plug it on the wrong way round) then it will blow the FW port on any Camcorder. Bad news, I'm afraid. To fix it, just reverse the plug for the FW port where it connects to th...

you can be both. if you get paid to do something, then you're doing it as a professional, and if you don't get paid, then you're an amateur.

I do both, and have no qualms about entering my films that have been made with £0 budget in amateur film competitions.
