Re: BIAFF 2022
Thanks for the notes, Tom. I think these faults in the listing are now corrected. We are totally at the mercy of the film makers as to when or whether they make their work publicly available. All too often the top films are still in competition at other events, some of which make it a condition of e...

Re: BIAFF 2022
John - a point you are possibly already aware of ... After watching each video in one of these sessions, close the tab. a) there is a risk YouTube will automatically go on to another video and cause sound problems. b) your browser will have memory problems dealing with several open tabs at once. For...

How best to run festivals in the electronic age?
It looks as if more and more festivals will have all-electronic entry soon. Many have e-judging too. The very few which give written comments will send them by email. Much of this will apply even if the actual festival and judging does still take place live. (Often there are no written comments for ...

Re: BIAFF Results 2022
To be honest, Willy, Birmingham always seemed a dirty industrial city in my mind ... until John Gibb showed me photographs of the modern city near The Crescent Theatre. My memory had been shaped by a childhood family holiday, when we cruised some of the canals from Llangollen in Wales to Birmingham ...

Re: BIAFF Results 2022
Thanks for the explanations, Willy.
I did wonder if it was a problem with the Identity Cards rather than actual passports. British governments have always resisted ID cards (as have some civil liberties groups) so if we want to leave "the island" we have always needed a passport.
Cheers

Re: BIAFF Results 2022
I was General Secretary of the British Federation of Film Societies and as such was invited to join the jury for "The Ten Best". Then I was commandeered for IAC in the Bernard Ashby era - watching films in his ?mother-in-laws's home. Jan and I went to LAFFs in various hotels and once in th...
