Re: Club Films on Youtube
Posting films on youtube is certainly a good way to go. There's a huge mixed bag of content good, bad and middling. Obviously there is so much material that it can take a bit of time for people to subscribe to your channel but people do see your work and even if it isn't getting too many views it is...

Re: Borehamwood on the brink ... ?
I haven't read everything above but has the club tried reaching out to kids in local school and maybe doing some promotional events at a local cinema?

Re: Has it really been so long?
It's all just so terribly exciting that sometimes things get wrotten ring. Silent films showed for a month in 1914 then made a total return in 1931

Has it really been so long?
Movies first came to Thurso somewhere between 1896/97 (still hunting that first advert before the 1897 publication) and were shown in the Town Hall or Temperance Hall on various occasions throughout each year. Many historic moments were brought to Thurso including the funeral of Queen Victoria and e...

Filming In Public In Scotland
I've been meaning to mention this for a wee bit of time since the last FVM had the Police letter detailing what can't be done to folks cameras and films. The big problem is that letter only deals with England and Wales because Scotland has different law, Could someone make the effort to find out exa...

Re: Calling Scotland ... why should we go to Stirling?
Film Thurso was joking! Stirling has plenty interest as with any British town and for those of you who admire old cinemas the former Allanpark/ Carlton cinema in Stirling is worth a look: http://www.scottishcinemas.org.uk/scotland/stirling/allanpark.html There have been worse things than pip...

Re: Worst wedding video evah?
Lol, I know the Vikings had a fair hand in many parts of the country but there's even chinese genes in true-blooeded Orcadians! :) What a mixed up bunch we are :) I think it results in bad wedding videos! Alas I have no examples in my collection, my videos weren't spectacular by any stretch but I co...

Re: Calling Scotland ... why should we go to Stirling?
The Scottish Parliament, don't blame Scotland, we didn't design it and didn't want it. There are some areas where the myth of Scottish tightness (it's only Aberdonians who are tight) makes sense. The building is extravigant rather than practical. Stirling, hmmm, been their once, whit a mess o' a too...

Re: THE (HISTORIC) ART OF FILM + COMPS. FESTIVALS &C
The Thorsaa Film Festival is like many others, looking for newer material but I can see the point here. I have always advocated the continued use of 'old' film where approriate. Our studio uses lots of old things for the purposes of film production and presentation and part of our local topical work...

Re: What do you think about over-acting?
At the end of the day it's do what it takes to make the film happen. Up here our am-drams are more dram-queens, little starlits that want for their very own spot of light centre stage AND DAMBNATION TO ANYONE WHO ENTERS THEIR SPOT! So needless to say, I leave them to their fantasy that Rhett Buttler...

Re: The Big Gig 2011- THORSAA FILM FESTIVAL
Really not sure yet. We launched the Picture House community cinema in July to provide mainstream cinema until (fingures crossed) we can get our local cinema re-opened. It was a viable business run into the ground by incompetant owners and staff who managed to get on the wrong side of everybody who ...
