Re: Disability day venue

I too liked the variety of shots but what is it with Vimeo? Even with HD turned off and the entire film buffered up it still plays in staccato jerks, really ruining the smooth fluidity that I assume the original has. Tom There is nothing wrong with Vimeo ! May I respectfully suggest that you take a...

Re: IAC forums traffic

"...I do agree that Council members and other bigwigs should partake on the forum, we often wonder whether it's just us children playing, with the grown ups elsewhere." Mmm.. I wonder if we let the 'grown ups' take part in the forums, that they will have enough of a grasp of the 'death of...

Re: speaking to the camera

Hi John, "...ive been thinking... Ive taken on board what dave has said..shoot loads , interview loads and have plenty to choose from in the final edit...." I think that first of all I would decide who the audience for this film, and the 'loads' of material that will get shot, is going to ...

IAC forums traffic

Wouldn't it be nice if 'loads' more IAC and non IAC members, used these forums ?
I wonder why they don't ? :(

Re: Very special event

John, Congrats on the 'blimp' purchase. You won't regret it ! :) I look forward to seeing that 'perfectly' colour balanced and exposed test video, and hearing NO Exmouth wind (or fan noise  ) on the sound track. :D It is great to see it all coming together ! I have a feeling that the 'Wales ou...

Re: Very special event

Hi John I use 18% (reflectance) Grey/White Card from Calumet : http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/eng/product/kodak_grey_card_18_r_27/109-199a As you see it is Grey one side and White the other. You can use a sheet of A4 White paper or card. (which is cheaper than the above !) Google "Grey card for ...

Re: Very special event

John, There are a load of tutorials and stuff on White Balance and Colour Grading on the net. To start you could try here : http://www.mediacollege.com/video/camera/white-balance/ and here : http://www.cambridgeincolour.com Check out Wickipedia for colour balance and colour grading. Some of the info...

Re: Very special event

You know what will happen now you have said that John ; there won't be a breath of wind in Exmouth for weeks  I had another thought on your lighting plan. If you are going to start mixing daylight and artificial light, you might want to take more control over your colour balance adjustments, t...

Re: Very special event

Hi John Your setup is looking good. Nice camera ! A couple of points for thought.... I still think that I would like to rely on better windproofing than just the 'deadcat' over the NTG2. Especially in the Welsh countryside at this time of year (with the 'March' winds still very active). A 'blimp' fr...

Re: Very special event

Something not mentioned so far is sound, and in particular the quality of the sound capture involved in the 'interviews'. I guess most of the interviews will be conducted outdoors, so take into account the possibility of wind/high wind on the day. This is, after all, outdoor Welsh countryside ! I wo...

Re: You Tube

Yes Dave, good points ! :)

Putting up your content on BOTH sites sounds a good strategy for maximum number of views, and I guess for a lot of people, that is their reason for using these sites.

Re: You Tube

Ann,
John is right. Vimeo is a far more 'mature' site for amateur/independant film postings.
Vimeo is the way to go, NOT YouTube !! 8)

Re: Titanic Inspired

Thank you Fred for your comments. Yes you are right I suppose i should have included some end credits but as the material for my short video was taken from so many sources, Videos\DVD's\ U Tube\Daily Motion\CD's and books on Titanic. I just did'nt have all the production info on all of the material...
