Re: VideoPad

My trial still seems to be working but will try again in a couple of days. The home editor version is US$40 but is limited to two sound tracks which is very restricting; and will not accept plug ins. The "Master" version is US$70 with unlimited sound tracks and accepts plug ins. I currentl...

Re: VideoPad

Out of curiosity I reopened the free Videopad; loaded clips plus a typewriter title and created an .mp4 file. I did this twice so the free version retains its ability to make .mp4 files. I failed to read the set up window on the first render and on the second render saw the frame rate defaults to 45...

Re: VideoPad

I downloaded the free version of VideoPad and gave it a quick try. I loaded a few clips; put them on the timeline; added a title and rendered to an.mp4 file. All straightforward with a good rendered file. However; reading some of the reviews, apparently after a short time some of the features in the...

Re: The Magazine

An organization can only honestly represent the demographic of its membership and I suspect that the membership of the IAC; both club and individual is predominantly white male of middle age and beyond. To pretend that it is otherwise by featuring the one or two members who do not fit this image is ...

Re: Manifesto for Change

I have been catching up on my reading so I am rather late with these comments on the responses to the Manifesto for Change in the December issue of the magazine, but here goes. Chris Taylor’s piece is a comedy rant but short on any suggestions or analysis of the Manifesto. Eric Williamson is most in...

Re: The Magazine

I don't know who reads the posts here but a couple of comments re the letters in the recent issue of the magazine. I read Chris Taylor's complaint about his 2015 version of Premiere Elements with astonishment; welcome to the world of software. I used FCP all the way from V2 to V7 Suite only to be ab...

Re: The Magazine

Have received the February issue; was there a January issue? If so mine seems to have got lost somewhere over the Atlantic. I enjoy Willy's contributions to the magazine and I have seen a number of his films so know he is a skilled and interesting film maker so the attack by Paula Webster is both un...

Re: BIAFF Web Page

I reported the problem to Norton and received a reply that the web page is now cleared. I have found that Norton do block web pages for no apparent reason. Thanks Richard for your reply.

Re: FVM articles

https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/what-is-lut/ LUTs are a method of automatically color grading the image on the timeline during editing. LUTs are like FX and are loaded onto the clips just like FX. They can give a wide range of color grades to the image with the look of various film stocks and ligh...

Re: BIAFF 2021 - should we even hope?

I would like to attend at least one more BIAFF (I have only attended two) before I fall off my perch. So a delay to the Autumn and a live festival would be appreciated. We are unlikely to be vaccinated before late February at the earliest and for the vaccination program to be effective it will need ...

Re: FVM articles

Using LUTs rather than manually color grading is very easy (certainly in Vegas Pro 18). I have used LUTs on the regular 4K output of my AX 700 to achieve a specific "look". I bought an inexpensive selection of LUTs and have downloaded various free LUTs; the range is amazing with some very ...

Re: FVM articles

I must ask Michael Whyman to put my e-mail address with my articles. I do know that some readers visit the links to my Vimeo site. Ken; I thoroughly enjoy your articles as we meet the real world of amateur film making and thanks to Tom for the detailed tech info. Michael; your son-in-law certainly s...
