ENHANCED DBS CHECKS

Does anyone know how I could get an enhanced DBS check? As far as I can see there's no way I can apply for myself. Does the IAC have any way of doing this for its members? Or is there some other video organisation that could do it? Any suggestions gratefully received!

Re: THE BIRMINGHAM FILM FESTIVAL

Congratulations to Jon Pegg for getting a Special Award for "Birmingham Film Festival Ambassador". Jon, you're making a fantastic contribution to filmmaking in Brum! I see that you'll be speaking at the CEMRIAC Seminar in Worcester on 1st March. I look forward to that! Jess O'Brien from Le...

Re: THE BIRMINGHAM FILM FESTIVAL

Howard, I saw your The Gift at Birmimgham Film Festival last Sunday too! It looked terrific on the HUGE screen at the Millenium Centre. The drone shot at the end was shown to its best advantage! We were delighted with how The Wand looked too. And how brilliant it sounded. The sound system in a place...

Re: Jameela Boardman's Article FVM October 2019

Bob Lorrimer says that if FVM was online it would have a much higher readership. I imagine this would only happen if it was not in a ‘members only’ area? If the magazine was available to the public would this increase the membership of the IAC? Bob is right that putting our films online is a way of ...

Re: Jameela Boardman's Article FVM October 2019

Is the IAC fulfilling the needs of current members? Ned has asked what IAC membership has to offer. Two members of my club have given up their membership this year. I don’t know exactly why, but it does make me wonder what benefits they are relinquishing? In principle these two ex-members can still...

Re: Jameela Boardman's Article FVM October 2019

In answer to Jameela's question "Which way do we desire the IAC to evolve?" I would like to say that I'd like the IAC to stick with BIAFF. If it was realistic for the council to put on a non-competitive festival as well, that would be wonderful! But I know that there are only a few people ...

Re: Jameela Boardman's Article FVM October 2019

The word ‘hobby’ Jameela, I am not sure whether you are saying that the word ‘hobby’ is off-putting to younger people because they may not understand its meaning, or whether you are also saying that anyone who has filmmaking as a hobby can’t be a serious filmmaker? I agree with you that the use of ...

Re: Jameela Boardman's Article FVM October 2019

Jameela, I read your piece with interest, and I think you raise some important issues. Workshops – I wish the IAC would put on practical workshops about filmmaking. Workshops where we could get together to learn the art and craft of filmmaking from experienced professionals. Working together – I sup...

Re: Mermaid & mini Mermaid

Stoke Cine and Video Society joined CEMRIAC when their region folded. And I believe some of them have joined as individual members of CEMRIAC.
I wonder whether your club could approach the IAC and see whether it and/or its members could do the same?

Well done, Willy, for making the most of what was available to you! It must have been SO disappointing!
Unless I'm really thirsty, I think I'd go for Laphroaig rather than diet coke! :D

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

I thought it was a cracking BIAFF weekend. Yes! I agree with Michael that it was the best ever. Efficient, smooth organisation. Excellent projection. The Crescent was a WONDERFUL venue. And I saw masses of films that I enjoyed and many really inspirational ones. Tom's post is excellent! Very interes...

Re: First film i ever made

Thanks for putting on links to those early films, Jon. It's very interesting to see them...and now I am even more impatient to see your Diamond Award winning film at BIAFF. I particularly enjoyed "An Hour's Sleep". I was completely caught up in the story. Really routing for the older guy. ...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

Michael Slowe's films have always been a great inspiration to me. I remember the very first one I saw was called "Leader of the Pack". I was bowled over by it and desperately wanted to make something like that myself. My first effort at a 'Michael Slowe' type film was called "Johnny's...
