Re: You Tube oddity

This thread looked like the best location for our problem. At our club we have been making our first forays into YouTube and we are a little, (nay, a lot), confused by the settings required in Adobe Media Encoder CS4. We wish to produce .mp4 files for either standard definition 4 x 3 or standard def...

Re: Categories

Dave Thanks for the very prompt reply. Would I be correct if I said that anything that started life as a moving image is a 'film' and any thing that started life as a still image is an 'AV production' and if this 'AV production' is then processed by a computer it becomes a 'sequence'? Not an importa...

This is a pretty fundamental question and certainly belongs in the ‘rookie’ section.

In one or two posts recently I have seen reference to ‘films’, ‘A/V presentations’ and ‘Sequences’.

Could someone please define these categories.

Re: Pinnacle studio 11

Having had one or two days of my own ‘computer problems’ I can now report that my friend has managed to register with the forum thanks to the assistance of Dave Watterson. Thank you very much. As a non-Studio user I have not been much help in Solving the problem he raised. I did suggest that he un-i...

Re: Pinnacle stucio 11

I am posting this on behalf of a club colleague who has tried to follow my advice to register on the forum but has run into problems. More on that later. His post follows:- “For some time I have used Pinnacle Studio 9.4 to produce DVDs with menus and with very few problems. I have recently upgraded ...

Re: Edit from Canon Legria HV 40

Billy, (both), The settings on the HV40, depending on whether you are capturing SD or HD, need to be set up in the cam menu. When I had a similar problem the following advice from 'BillyfromC' was very useful. Having recorded footage to the Canon HV40 in HDV it is then necessary to output to Premier...

Re: Magix movie editor

Roy

The following review confirms the fact that the sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum software is limited to four video and four audio tracks.

I don't know whether I could edit within this constraint.

Re: Magix movie editor

Hi Roy The copy of Sony vegas ..... I have downloaded is a 30 day trial and may be accessed from the following site http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/moviestudiopp. Whether you can obtain the information to which you refer from it I don't know. Re: Magix movie editor

Thanks to ned and Roy for their help. I have downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. (I am on the end of a very long wire from the telephone exchange and it took me 50 minutes). If anyone from Magix reads this then they should have a look at the Sony tutorials. If they had something of that...

Re: Magix movie editor

Update. Having now played around with editing HD footage on Magix and copying to DVD in Blu ray format I really must start editing in HD and distributing in both HD and SD. However the thought of spending a long time mastering Magix Movie Edit Pro 15+ and then being disappointed with it puts me off....

Re: Magix movie editor

Roy. I share your disappointment with Magix, there is obviously no peer support from within this forum so Magix can go onto the back burner for a while as I continue to do the things that matter to me in Premiere Pro. However Magix is still my only route into HD so I will persevere. One of the optio...

Re: Magix movie editor

Progress? report. On the positive side I have burned a high definition edit in to a DVD in standard definition using Magix with the default settings and viewed the result on a 40” TV. The results are very good. (What I did to produce the rubbish I reported on earlier I don’t know). The bad news was ...

Re: Magix movie editor

Thanks for the good news that HD edits may be burned to DVD at the same or better quality than the same footage routed through a standard definition process.

I will have another attempt to see where I am going wrong.

Re: Magix movie editor

From the information picked up on this thread and the ‘Copying ones own DVDs’ thread, I have decided to purchase a double layer DVD RW, (Plextor DVDCD PX-880SA) and a Sony Blu ray player, (BDPS360 Profile 2.0). If 20 minutes of HD in Blu ray format can be burned onto a standard DVD, and more onto a ...
