Re: Blu-Ray Rather Than DVD

I'm sorry Ned C, but you only speak for yourself about "technology phobic senior citizens"!!!!! I have many, many years to go until I claim a pension, and equally, I believe that the Pro HD people here are significantly older than I am! I don't really see any point in bringing age into a d...

Re: Blu-Ray Rather Than DVD

Thanks Mike, I'm so glad an "old codger" agrees with me too - I was afraid I'd be dismissed as a know-nothing teenager! :-)

Re: Using a HD camcorder makes you a better videographer

Based on previous discussions on this subject, I think you should tell us what a videographer is, in contrast to a filmmaker, documentary maker, drama maker, visual storyteller... it's a bit too all-encompassing to get a relevant answer... To me videographer means someone who takes footage with a vi...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?

I don't want a Kindle. I know it's value - family members have one and swear by it. I know a lot of people who couldn't afford a Kindle, and see no point in buying one: their interests should be met along with those who like to 'internet' their reading material. I know what you mean, I don't see th...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?

I'm sorry you see it as an old chestnut. Personally, I read the http://www.bbc.co.uk/news website every day, and as an online magazine, I find it a perfect replacement for a daily newspaper. It may be that you disagree and you hate everything about the BBC news website, but the fact remains, that it...

Re: Blu-Ray Rather Than DVD

Oh how wrong you are, every heard of the iPhone? There are millions of them being carried and used by young and youngish people in this county alone and they all can shoot 1080p HD video. On youtube alone there are 43000 iPhone related videos, heaven knows how many there are in total. :-) Ever hear...

Re: Blu-Ray Rather Than DVD

Tom has a point, (as usual). I don't think the current changes are quite like VHS - DVD. VHS was a particularly lossy format, so DVD did give quite a useable improvement to picture quality, whereas HD seems to me to more like icing on the cake. And dont get me started on 3D! I'm waiting for someone ...

Re: Blu-Ray Rather Than DVD

I feel like I've been left behind by all this techie talk of HD. I consider myself a storyteller-filmmaker, and although I'm a registered geek, HD does nothing whatsoever to aid my storytelling, and as a result, I still use my FX1 in SD mode, as HD to me means 4 time the rendering times and 4 times ...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?

Chrisbitz hits the nail on the head when writing about " ... failing to connect and be relevant to younger filmmakers. " And I note he says "younger" not "young". There are excellent and enthusiastic young film makers but they are rarely interested in joining clubs or ...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?

Of course, I mentioned the topic of the shame of this unsupported forum back in 2008, and was roundly shouted down by a council member saying how they all do read the forum, (yes we really do, honestly! NO REALLY we do!!!) My point back then was the lack of support the IAC give this forum. So how mu...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?

I fully agree with Fraught. I chose to stop renewing my membership a few years ago, exasperated in the IAC's apparent reluctance to fully embrace the possibilities that the internet offered. I wonder how much the current management commitee actually uses The Internet, be it with Forums or Facebook o...

What can be easier than 1. Download free, pre-keyed muzzle flash from Detonation films link in first post. http://www.detonationfilms.com/UnitK-4.html look for "THE BEST ALL-PURPOSE MUZZLE FLASHES EVAR!" also, http://www.detonationfilms.com/Stock_Directory.html look for "MUZZLE FLASHE...

Re: Club Forum Hosting

I guess none of us really understood your question.

At the risk of stating the obvious, go to this website, http://www.phpbb.com/ download the software, install it on your website and hey presto. It's really quite easy, it does it all for you...

Is that what you meant?

Hope this helps...

Re: Club Forum Hosting

I would sugest that you're making a rod for your own back with that idea. With our new website at http://www.OVFM.org, we have the capability to easily have a forum, but we decided against it for a couple of reasons. If you look at the members compared to traffic here, it's pretty dead as it is, but...
