FVM Editor

I am surprised that no-one on here (or anywhere else), has made any announcement about what is happening about our magazine FVM. Garth announced in the December 2018 issue that he is resigning from April 2019. There was no other mention of it in the magazine. I e-mailed Garth to say I was sorry he i...

Re: Val Ellis

I have just read this tonight. It is so sad. We spoke at the Burnley festival back in March and she was telling us she had only a few months to live. Then she came to our presentation at Cheadle and Gatley club several months ago along with our FVM editor Garth. She was looking quite well then, but ...

Re: compatible ink cartridges

I have an Epson 265 printer. I almost always use genuine Epson ones bought from sites on Amazon so usually around £58 for a full set. The fake ones (called "compatible") sometimes work and sometimes don`t. The one issue is that they run out unexpectedy rather than when predicted by the chi...

Re: THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017

Now here`s an interesting thing which you might like to review, Michael and others. I have just been reading the extensive rules for voting for BAFTA, the professional version (more money, power, influence, members, etc) of BIAFF. The members of BAFTA are allowed to vote within their own chapter whi...

Re: THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017

Sorry Michael but can`t agree, but not club level film makers. A mixture of both film makers and non film makers with some knowledge would be ideal. Knowing the problems we face to me is an advantage and helps with giving useful critiques instead of nit-picking trivia which has no bearing on the sto...

Re: THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017

There has been a lot of dialogue on this subject since I last logged in. It`s been an extra busy time with us here as we had a film show to give at Cheadle and Gatley club and then this last weekend we were in Scotland to do the SAM workshop (on comedy) so there obviously had been a lot of prep work...

Re: THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017

BIAFF was particulary good this year. It was great to see and meet everyone again though sad for those who have gone and some who get more frail every year as we all get older. But on the very positive side, we saw amongst the (I think) 45 movies, some really great ones, some odd ones and some which...

Re: See you at BIAFF

Yes we are now going. We thought we couldn`t be there for the whole weekend this year but things have changed and we have now booked for the three days but in a different hotel a few minutes drive away. Hope the Saturday shows are better attended than they have been the past couple of years. The Sun...

Re: BIAFF 2017 Results

Yes Michael, I know. We have discussed film judging on this forum and within the pages of FVM many times over the years. I know also that I have stirred things up sometimes and perhaps my article in FVM some time ago helped promote the idea of the second DVD to be sent with a competition entry to he...

Re: BIAFF 2017 Results

We have now received the results from our two films from 2016. Like others on the forum, we had guessed at our what the star awards would be and I had thought each would be in the region of a 3 star and 4 star or possibly higher. But as others have found on the forum, we also had the results the wro...

Richard Curry

I have just heard via Facebook that Richard Curry has passed away. I have not seen anything posted on here so thought I would let IAC memebrs know. The bits of information are via Facebook but it appears he was in hospital before Christmas, but I don`t know anything more. We were chatting with him a...

Re: Adobe Premier Elements (Books on)

Hi and thanks for comments and suggestion here. Ok Dave, I have now just received my disc from Amazon with the Kaspersky total security 2017 programme on it. I will install it this week and hopefully that will be all ok now.

Re: Adobe Premier Elements (Books on)

Hi Dave. Thanks for your comments and advice. This PC used for e-mails and internet searching etc has a free version of AVG protection installed. The new PC, purposed built for editing only, will currently have nothing at all as I realise as only Windows 10 and Premiere Elements 15 have been install...

Re: Happy Christmas and a Good New Year (when it comes)

It`s a bit late for me to say a "Happy Christmas" now as it`s Boxing day, but the "Happy New Year" still stands. Postings on the forums have been quite sparse lately, so I hope that this is just a temporary "blip." Going through our Christmas cards list several days ago...

Re: Adobe Premier Elements (Books on)

Following my postings on other pages re: XLR connectors and plugs etc, readers on there will know that I have just had to change to new (memory card) Sony cameras. Like a domino effect, the failure after 6 years of one of our previous tape cameras, meant an upgrade to new ones. These then would not ...
