The Big Gig 2011- THORSAA FILM FESTIVAL
The Big Gig has run it's course and is now changing it's appearance. The Big Gig will move over to present the Thorsaa Film Festival. The new festival name reflects the Pictish Viking culture and heritage of Caithness, a non-galic part of Scotland. We continue to look for the same wide range of film...

Re: Film Festival Time Limits
The Big Gig is unrestricted, it's only that our programmes tend to be around 125 minutes because that's how the programme arrangements generally end up. If someone was to give us a 3 hour epic (we keep our fingures crossed it's worth watching!) we will certainly show it complete.

Re: HOW DO YOU START A CLUB?
Locally this was once tried but the the dramtics group are so inverted ("we want to specialise in theatre") that they turned their noses up at the idea. I kid you not, 'snob' is too mild a word for the attitude they have. Thankfully that is not every amateur dramatics group (though it migh...

Re: CFT Group- American Dog
Thanks for the feedback, luckily I didn't direct this one but did assist. John called the shots and made the edit of the main action and there were certainly some sound issues. Dimitri's dying lines were captured from an earlier take which worked but Vladimir's lines in places were rough and lost wi...

Re: CFT Group - Picture House Gazeteer
The only part of me that appears in the film is my hand reaching out for some chedder in the closing shot. I prefer to stay sensibly behind the camera as I'm no longer as photogenic as I appear in my childhood photos, (although compared to my classmates, I've aged well)

Re: FILM SOUND
It's all jolly good stuff but you know the average viewer/listener doesn't notice. In fact a sound recording can be reduced to just 25% of it's full spectrum before anyone will spot the difference- and I got that tit-bit of info from a professional too! :D I wonder then why the audio industry is con...
