Gosh, what a story, I admire your tenacity!
In reading it though, I can't help but feel again that the problem is 'competition culture'! ...but I won't start on that subject again here

Re: Anyone out there?
Have you considered combining your energies and making a longer film, like a feature film rather than multiple shorts?

Re: Anyone out there?
A fair cop! :D But actually I was not thinking about winning competitions, but rather of films that win people's hearts and do what they intend to do by the story they tell. Regarding networking / collaboration / database of skills offered, this is one of the points presented in that 'Manifesto For ...

Re: Anyone out there?
Is not the moral of all this, that our ' differences ' together could make a winning team! If the focus of the IAC was about fostering such networking and collaboration between members together, then surely some magnificent independent films could be made non-commercially. In an age when news media ...

Re: Anyone out there?
Personally, the only parts of filmmaking that I really enjoy, are the script writing and maybe the editing. All the work both in front of and behind the camera gives high stress levels for me. So if I had a suitable robot, I would delegate!

Re: Anyone out there?
Just that it appears the number of views stated is far greater than the probable number of actual people who have visited any forum thread! When we are logged in, at the bottom of the page where it says 'WHO IS ONLINE'. Clicking it reveals registered users: <self> Google [Bot] Bing [Bot] So are thes...

Re: Anyone out there?
Out of curiosity for how many viewers are human, and how many are internet bots, I scrolled way down this forum and selected four old threads which I am sure would no longer be active, except to the very occasional researcher maybe. I monitored this over a couple of weeks and the number of views kep...

Re: LOCAL COUNCIL LICENCES REGARDING CHILDREN IN FILMS
From the PDF guidance notes for that Lancashire County Council License, which I think will be the same or similar for all counties, it seems to be concerned about the well-being of the children; that their working hours and conditions are satisfactory. So whether they are paid or not is irrelevant t...

Re: LOCAL COUNCIL LICENCES REGARDING CHILDREN IN FILMS
Searching on our Lancashire County Council website, I have found this reference regarding Child Performance Licence. https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/keeping-children-safe/children-in-employment-and-entertainment/child-performance-licences/ If you scroll down, it says 'Perfo...

Re: Manifesto for Change
Once we get ourselves to be an attractive proposition, we then go for a massive publicity drive everywhere we can think of that potential new members might look. For example: A5 flyer sheets sent to every college and university that has media studies courses. Bundles of 20 flyer sheets posted to all...

Re: Manifesto for Change
Dear Michael, Regarding competition culture; I don't think I'm "Obsessed" about it, but I am a 'Stubborn' sort of person, and from my perspective this issue is a serious problem for the IAC which needs to be discussed between both sides of the argument. -- But if only 'competition supporte...

Re: Manifesto for Change
Amateur film, AV, and video making includes a whole spectrum of people - including many similar to yourself, but is not a common theme between members; the desire to improve? Any significant change at the IAC will only happen if a majority of members vote for it, that applies to these changes that I...

Re: Manifesto for Change
Thanks Tim, Just to clarify about where I "anticipated that for new and younger members" ... We now live in a world with YouTube, Vimeo, and festivals specifically for 'Shorts', so why would new people want to join an established Institute unless they are serious about this activity? ...I ...
