Having been doing video for many years I have never got past the stage of recording sound on the camera with various external microphones. (Sennheiser RM, tie clip and hand held and Sennheiser MK66 etc.). I had frequently thought of acquiring a proper location sound mixer, for myself and for my vide...

Something to disuss or argue about
Our video club is composed of about a dozen old fogies with the usual few who are the ‘doers’ and the remainder who are the ‘lookers on’. We have the usual internal competitions and interclub competitions. We usually only manage second place in these. As we know, comedy is a difficult thing and one ...

Roy, I've had a look at your bit in Youtube and like it and have put a comment. The quality looks as good as most others. What I still don't understand is that, in theory, all you have to do is upload (say) an avi file and the job is done.Youtube compresses it their end. This didn't seem to work for...

Stephen, You have been watching too many Tommy Cooper shows!!!! Actually I might be able to use some of those in our next 'comedy?' production. But clearly it wont be any better than our last effort. Finally . . . the strong winds which swept southern England last night caused extensive damage to th...

Billy Thank for the reply, sorry I haven’t been back but so far as I know I didn’t receive the usual automated reply saying some had posted a message. However. . . I will gladly answer your points now. Battery amps. Yes there are many around and, as I write, there are three in my house. I was even l...

SUCCESS. I downloaded the recomended Riva programme ran it and tried uploading a 10 sec. clip that worked so very fast but the sound was missing. I discovered that I could remove this test. I then set about uploading a full 3 minutes clip and that uploaded in a few minutes. The screen then said 'wai...

Been away for a few days but just had another go at uploading to Youtube. Firstly I checked my upload speed as suggested. I tried a couple of sites for this a few times and it seemed to average around 350kbps. I can see what is meant by knowing about these things. So using Firefox I tried uploading ...

I don’t visit this board very often but did so today to put a posting and I noted some discussion on YouTube. Till yesterday I had never tried putting a video on this so I registered and tried putting on a video of under 4 mins. It’s an AVI file. After many hours of trying and failing I put question...

Going back to previous posts on sound for film shows
Some time ago I posed questions regarding sound for our video club's film shows. I got lots of valuable gen that I have passed on to the 'mafia'. (Nothing has been done of course?? However . . . I thought someone might be interested in my own personal solution that I'm very happy with. Firstly I pla...
