Thanks Ned C for the info. It`s quite interesting. Let us know how it goes and what you think of the resultant pictures! Will it be like looking out of a window!

We just need the IAC, clubs and other bodies to upgrade there gear. Just think of it at next years competition having a few entries in HDV. Fansy se...

What a good explaination you have given us Ned C. I never thought of it that way. Maybe, as true film-makers, have to do two versions of our films. The first version is the `proper` version or long film. It entails the total length of the film with `what the director intended`. Just like the Directo...

I like this type of discussion. Some people have all sorts of weard and wonderful little gems of films they like. Some of the films I like are..... Star Wars ............ This set the scene and the milestones for the beginning of `proper` SF. The film has high standards and is very moralistic. The g...

David `PS Did you notice the neat way Billy worked his club's website address into his message?` Yes! I think the best way to get new members is always the personel invitation. You invite a friend or a mate to come along to one of the `open evenings`. Here the best films are shown. You do have to po...

As speaking on behalf of my club, we don`t do any promoting whatsoever! I am very dissalutioned with it. When I was club sec for the 9 months  I promoted the club all round the world. When the new sec took over (a 60 year old lady), her enthusasiam isn`t so strong as mine! This stopped and now...

Modern camcorders are better at low light then the ones before but still the lower the light, the more grain in the picture. The best way is to add more light to get rid of the dreaded grain. Some camcorders are better then others. My Canon isn`t soo good at lowlight. That`s one reason why i`m savin...

Stephen. Tell me about it! My 3 built in harddrives are full. The best way is to either buy USB harddrives so you can take it in and out or (what I do) is to put the finished film back onto MiniDV tape. If really want more back up then put the film onto 2x MiniDV tape and DVD. If you go the DVD rout...

My clumsy way is to copy the VOB file onto my hard drive, rename it as an MPG file and import that to the Premiere timeline. After rendering it, the result can be output to tape in the usual way. (A VOB file is a special form of MPG file anyway so changing the file extension is not so drastic as it...

Surly if you are taking a signal out of the computer via a S Video socket. This socket is still analogue. Yes, the quality is good but the signal has still gone through a conversion and this will degrade it very slightly.
Or have I missed something :o

This would be better, I agree but the last time I looked into it, it was a question of types of connections from the computer. With different tv`s in the house, DVD players, computer out`s and different video connections. I think the problem was also the tv in on the tv. This particular tv only had ...

I think that if it`s a copy for someone then the quality will be ok. If it`s an extra master copy then do a computer one. I video now and again for someone and he wants the finished result on VHS. This is a total pain. I edit and burn to DVD. Set up my portable tv and dvd player and then do a copy. ...

With the flouresent lights. I think this idea is good but you will need to do a white balence and be prepaired to alter the picture colour in your editing software when you edit. These sort of tubes give out a yellow light and looks a bit crap! If you go to an aquarium dealer, they sell different ty...
