FVM iac-nle column
It is now time that this column is ended and thanks given to Colin Jones for his endeavours to date. I say this because in recent issues there have been posts by myself reproduced that are 18 months old and they now have factual errors. The problem with e-mail groups is that A asks a question B and ...

Re: DV mini tapes
Anne Is it a PC you have? If so you can add a PCI firewire card http://www.overclock.co.uk/product/4-Port-IEEE-1394-Firewire-Card-PCI-Card-Retail_13796.html The are very easy to fit, switch off the power, open the case and at the bottom left of the electronic circuit board you will find a series of ...

Re: We will remember them
It is a time for recollection and thanks. My Wife and I have been undertaking family research and so far we each have three family members who are recorded on the Somme memorial and therefore their actual graves are close to where they fell. I would not be here if it was not for WW1 and my Grandfath...

Re: Edit software selection
Frank Sorry you have had issues but Apple is Apple and they change just because they can. Tim Edius and Edius neo differ in the video files they can edit and in the choice of output options, that is all Neo really is that good. Yes it does have other limitations but for 95% of users that will not ma...

Re: Edit software selection
Well put guys I asked a question a couple of years ago about what editing software did everyone use and got a full mixed gamut of responses. I fail to understand why someone spends hundreds if not thousands of pounds on a camcorder yet thinks that a thirty pound editing software is the way to edit. ...

Re: Editing Software Upgrade
Edius Neo is £130 from DVC
It does all you need in an interface very similar to Premiere
Download the trial Edius 7 which is the full version and so handles high end formats, Neo edits AVCHD natively on a suitable PC.

Re: LILLIPUT 7" MONTOR
If your power lead to the inverter does not have a ferrite core through which the cable is wound you may get some improvement. The mains hum is probably being induced in the inverter/charger and there is not too much you can do as it is down to the complexity of the electronic circuitry. Have you al...

Re: Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera
Thanks Fred These BMD cameras do seem to have potential but, by the time you add a decent lens, a mike you have something a bit more likely but not exactly an easy camera to handle, another but, the recording to either Prores or DNG is a great plus point as bit these formats are excellent for editin...

Re: adobe warp stabiliser
Roy Did you get After Effects? If you did forget about stabilising in Premier as WS in AE is on a different planet and Mercali is ancient by comparison. You have to learn how to use it by watching a couple of the video Tutorials on Creative Cow but once mastered, you end up with video that is locked...

Ooops, we had a slight problem
I have a couple of motorcycles, I also have a couple of those cheapish HD action camcorders, so it seemed like a good idea to fasten them to the bike and record a run on said motorbike. One camera is fitted to the engine bars at low level and I thought that A good head height sequence of video from ...

The best format is mp4, goodness even a MAC user will be able to play it.
If they are viewing on a PC then VLC is the best player, it is a free download.

Re: Use of potentially copyrighted clips - any advice?
I'd avoid using anything other than my own video.
You could use your own footage, convert it to black and white and use it with a track matte.
You resize the b & w vids to cover slightly more that the TV screen and position then correctly and the matte covers precisely the TV screen.

Re: Creating a searchable video archive
A server implies a fixed hard drive system attached to a PC either directly or indirectly. Then the output from the PC GPU will be fed into the projector or AV amp and via software you select the movie you want to watch. Is this what you have in mind? If it is also as shot un-edited video files that...
