Are you happy..........?

Yes, but, as usual, puzzled by judges comments, this time that the main point of the film was considered to be added on and too long. I thought I'd sent them the more detailed - for enthusiasts, wanting to know more - version but it's the right length, so..... Have put a query on the main forum abou...

Royalty free music

Sorry, I meant no comment on any contributor to this forum but to the original posting from Ray re NVM. I have used their music (on 'Magical Manor', if anyone saw that, but got the comment 'Pity you didn't ask Kirsten' from my regular commentator. I did ask Kirsten (an internationally known flautist...

HDV handheld

Ned, Have you tried the monopod sitting in a pouch at your waist? (I use what we call a bum-belt - I'm sure you have a more elegant word for it - waist-purse?) The hips are much steadier than the shoulders but you have the freedom of movement of handheld. It can work for handicams up to shoulder-mou...

Whizz, Bang, crash

Seems to me the length of a film is as long as a piece of string. I tend to go into detail so that at the end viewers know significantly more about the subject than they did before. This may be able to be done in 10 minutes, often takes longer. I actually got a version of this year's film to 16 and ...

Entering competitions

This year for the first time for quite a while my entry for BIAFF will be one we made for our own interest in the subject(Documentary as usual for me) not because I was asked to do it for a particular purpose. I wonder if it will be judged to be 'of interest to a general audience' which doesn't ofte...

I forgot to say that, when PROPERLY INSTALLED the Pioneer did indeed print 14 DVDs without problems. My new Canon iP4500 printer however went AWOL twice while printing 21 discs. Switched off and on again = OK. It's a funny machine - has to go through the same rigmarole for each disc - click 'print',...

I have been 'away' for ages and don't know how this forum works now. Is the there a technical forum as well and if so how do I access it? If there isn't can someone please tell me if the small data projectors (about the size of a packet of large biscuits) are any good for video projection. Is it a q...

How Judges can be helpful

I'm waiting to see what the IAC judges say about my entry before I wipe it off the computer. I might say I'm sorry it's quite so long (it's not as long as the original and I have made a very short version from part of it) and hope they can stand it. None of my club went to sleep when I showed it to ...

A free to enter film

I wonder why only fiction films. A new way to do documentaries would interest some of us! Peter Copestake
