BluRay reader/writer.

wanting to be able to make a compilation on a bluray disc as I can on DVD (which could include a Bluray film tho' obviously at a lower quaity) I was advised to get a Pioneer BDR-209EBK, had it installed and started on the project. OK with the DVDs but the Pioneer did not recognise a member's home ma...

Re: FVM Editor

I understand that Mike Whyman is taking over temporarily as editor but why you are hearing this informally from me not from IAC Council I can't imagine unless there are some red faces in high places. I didn't feel that I wanted to air my views in public as it were and gave them to Garth direct but I...

Re: Public liability insurance

UPDATE When it was due a lady phoned up to say that unfortunately Pendle MM's equipment had not been covered during the previous year (in spite of my checking that it was but forgetting to check that a reply had come) and that there would be an increase in premium to cover it this year. I looked on ...

Re: hood for LCD screen

Very substantial bits and pieces! I haven't mentioned the hood on the current version. It is attached by velcro all round and is soft like your extra one.
I'll try to get a grandson to talk me through all this use of the forum.

Re: hood for LCD screen

Well, that does work for you, Peter, but I got stuck with it when I tried last night. I didn't reduce size though. Give it more time in daytime, perhaps.
Perhaps description is enough. How do you find the monitor?

Re: hood for LCD screen

Sorry to be so long getting back with this. I have a photo but I cannot follow the instructions for putting it on. It shows the monitor fixed to the back shoe of our Sony Z5 the mic taking up the front one. Also the cam's own monitor. Photo taken from the position I would be standing holding the pan...

Re: Alter camera settings or modify in post

Thanks, Tom, as always. I seem to think that with my lower quality footage, altering things with filters in post production reduces it further in some respects while maybe giving a more pleasing result overall. Any way, I'll try some camera changes on a trial basis, not wait for the day it matters.

Alter camera settings or modify in post

Am I right in thinking that, where appropriate, it is better to alter camera settings than adjust, for example, contrast, saturation and detail in post-production? I am thinking of when filming countryside in flat, non-conrasty light conditons. I have the option of doing this on the Sony Z5 that is ...

Re: hood for LCD screen

I bodged up a balck paper hood and found it didn't really do the job. In the end I went for a proper monitor, 7" from Liliput. When set up correctly from a weird out-of-the-box setting that was monochrome orange it looks as if I'll be more than satisfied. It gives a brilliant picture.

Re: Canon HV30 out putting NTSC

First - apologies for red herrings. It was all my fault. 1. I had miss-set Premiere to NTSC in error 2. It was Nero that gave the message that the majority of the footage was NTSC, and it still says this since I corrected the Prmeire settings and re-rendered and made a satisfactory DVD. so Nero has ...

Re: Canon HV30 out putting NTSC

Thank you once again Tom for your advice. I have looked into settings and found one wrong'un. Must have clicked on the wrong button afte working on a 4:3 project from years back but there is something weird going on. I'll post news when I've done more experiments but for now just to say it's Nero wh...

Canon HV30 out putting NTSC

Previous HD footage on this camcorder has been incorporated in a film without problems. Now I could not play the tape into the computer via the firewire lead (I cannot edit HD so it is downgraded using firewire but is very good) but the tape played oK from our Sony Z5 and all went well editing on ou...

Re: Public liability insurance

Pendle MM have been insured through brokers Arthur J Gallagher who are the successors of Amlin who were the brokers recommended by the IAC when we started getting club equipment rather than individually-owned players etc. years ago. The actual insurers have changed and the brokers have kept prices d...
