Has the IAC ever thought of having professional film-makers to judge? Yes - and it is often a disaster. Within the industry people point out any mistakes bluntly - after all everyone there is supposed to be a professional at their job and any delays can be very expensive. Professional judges tend t...

It can sometimes be useful with films in a foreign language where judges may get the gist of it through ima...

Just a word of warning about all this ... It is quite likely that some people who are not happy with their result will not be willing to say so in public. It sounds like being a poor sport. This means we cannot assume that the poll or the comments here represent every view. I am sure our competition...

Rather than me summarising it here ... take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube Wikipedia explains the YouTube history and gives a lot of technical detail about how they handle files. It also points out that there was for some time a confusion with utube a site owned by people who make pi...

Just to check - and forgive me for asking such a basic thing - how are you connecting to the computer? Firewire or USB? Editing software usually expects a Firewire connection. Then have you checked the capture settings ... Project Menu > Project Settings > Capture > A/V Inputs I use Premiere Pro 1.5...

Yes it would be helpful to give the IAC a higher public profile, but how can we do that within our means? IAC has one secretary/office organiser/wonderwoman called Pamela who works about half a week for us. Just processing the memberships and the admin for the committees takes up almost all her time...

Can I just inject a thought ... are we too worried about attracting young people? Should our target be people in their 50s? (a) young people do not like joining any club / society (b) their interests may change as they grow (c) their education and career moves often keep them from setting down roots...
