Re: Competition sections

You're catching up on me fast Michael, if you're 89. You must keep those juices flowing......don't listen to modern . so called, music and dump the TV, both destroyers of the creative mind. and the drying up of juices. I've just started on a very complex animated sound sync film to make. Using skull...

Re: Competition sections

It would be very interesting to see how many film
makers are actually over 90.
Any others here?

Competition sections

Most festivals and competitions have a section for junior film makers.
Why not a senior section?
I mean really senior. "Over ninety."

In that manner I will get less competition, if any :-)

Re: Judging-FVM June

I am working on an X cert animated film using solely the Greek symbols for male and female. I shall put a warning notice at the start, that this film contains images of a sexual nature ! In view of the discussion on judges maybe a notice too that it should only be judged by randy people ! :-) It wil...

Re: Judging-FVM June

Albert Noble, for the record your clever animation film FOR TWO PINS went down very well with the audience this evening at the Wolverhampton Film Festival! It’s a very good film. Thanks for that Howard. Interestingly, other judges in other festivals this year thought differently. As I said, it's la...

Re: Judging-FVM June

There's two aspects of film.
Technical excellence or otherwise.
And for want of a better word, artistic excellence.

I would tend to take much more notice of the first
rather than the second, as the taste of the viewer
comes into play and doesn't always reflect sufficiency on the film's
qualities.

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

Well, I received 3 stars for 'Fonts' and received best animation at Wolverhampton Film Festival recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BrPK4prq7s At 90 next month my creative juices are getting a bit thin, methinks :-) It's many years now since I made animated films so this was my first effort r...

New type of robot tracking shot

I recently acquired a robot floor vacuum cleaner... .....what house could ever be without one of these little marvels? As an experiment I mounted a small video recorder on top of it and sent the lot on its way:-) Quite an interesting Hitchcockian tracking type of result as the robot sometimes ran st...

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

I might be out of date now but the only group of amateur film makers who made an animated film where more than one man was involved in its production, was the Grasshopper Group, of Berners St. London. back in the 1960 era. started by John Daborn. Even there, most members were sole film makers too, s...

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

I recently watched an animated version of Pinocchio. It wasn't cartoon but real object animation taking years to plan and make. As the end credits rushed passed I estimated how many people had been engaged it it's production......well over three thousand ! This being typical today of other intensive...

Shortest film ever ?

I made this as a joke for someone I know. Is it the shortest
film ever made? 10 seconds! It's a horror film too.:-)

Re: Free Royalty Free Music

I had a listen to this type of music and found the
quality of melody writing to be poor.
The classical composers have that great but rare art of good composition.
I'll stick with my Brahms. :-)
