Use of Replica Firearms

I am planning a production that requires the use of a matched pair of 17 th Century duelling pistols. Has anyone else carried out a duelling scene using replica firearms in a public space such as a park. Are there any local authority, public and police notification/approvals needed prior to shooting...

Re: The Photography Show

I was at the Photography Show on the Monday and was very impressed by the wide range of exhibition stands and workshops offered. As Brian has already given a flavour of the video content of the show I will try and cover some of the other aspects of it. At one of the Filmmaking workshops the benefits...

Re: Where to from here part 2

John Roberts input is very welcome and I wish him the best in his endevours. Some input from myself is offered: 1. Taking the FMV issue first the current membership of the IAC, from the representative sample attending the AGM, is skewed to the over 65 age group, and as such will in the main prefer t...

Re: Where to from here?

[They managed to attract entries from budding professionals which we aren't getting today, more's the pity, because I honestly don't think that the standard has risen since those days, possibly it has even regressed] Thus is the rub! There are many young filmmakers across the UK who make films, that...

Re: Where to from here?

Most Universities have their own filmmaking section and this can be a very productive element or become just another social film viewing group. I don't know if the IAC has any links to these filmmaking groups, one of the problems is that due to the nature of their membership, continuity and ongoing ...

HDMI Signal extenders over CAT5 cable

I have to produce images from my pc for a show over some distance. I believe one solution is to use HDMI line extenders using CAT5 cable to link up the HDMI output of my computer to the corresponding on the remote projector. Has any one tried this out before and does it work, if it does, is there an...

Re: Creating a searchable video archive

Thanks for the info. I'm looking for something similar to CatDV that can capture, analyse and store HDV, AVCHD and SD formats. I think that CatDV is limited in the range of video formats it can capture and handle. Plex looks a very comprehensive media management system, and for club members interfac...

Creating a searchable video archive

Looking for suggestions on the best way to create a archive of video footage that will provide a file index that is searchable. The idea is to use a server of some sorts that will allow saved video files to quickly be found and viewed via a HDMI link to a projector. If you have a club set up that pr...

Club Film making Course

Whe would like to run a basic filmmaking course to try and attract new members to the video club. It is over 12 years since we last ran a course on basic filmmaking and the world and ourselves have moved on since then. If any other club has recently ran a basic filmmakers course, or similar course, ...

Projecting onto a circular Screen

I have a video project for a visitors centre that requires the image to be projected onto a 1metre diameter screen, that is surrounded by a circular brick wall to imitate a well, the projector is mounted 8 feet above the screen. The original video was made 15years ago using a 4:3 ratio and would be ...

Using a river on a map as a timeline

I am currently looking at a project that will involve video of sections of a river, 24 miles long. I would like to use a map that shows the route of the river, from the source to the sea, as a 31/2 minute timeline track in Edius. The idea is to follow the map of line of the river as a background ima...

Re: Video Clubs and Future?

Some club membership research may help but this will only benchmark the prevailing status within the clubs and not capture the thoughts of the many other filmmakers or prospective filmmakers, that are not currently club members. Again the IAC is a volunteer body with limited resources that serves al...
