Re: FVM October 2022 issue
Thanks Tim for your feedback. You're right about the background on the laurels article. It didn't look as good as I'd hoped. You're also right that I'm aiming at a more general demographic. It can't hurt! Watch this space...

Hi Folks,
The postal strike notwithstanding many of you should, by now, have received the latest copy of the magazine - and my first. I'm looking for feedback please.
Cheers
Martin

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. Rest assured I will endeavour to do my very best for FVM. But, as I said, I can't write it all myself. My inbox editorFVM@arenig.co.uk is wide open.

Re: Film & Video Maker Magazine
Oh and another. What's your experiences of working with talent websites: "Star Now" for instance. How do you find the talent for your films? If you're like me then it's just me - but more sociable filmmakers might use club members or otherwise hire them in (for peanuts) from a talent agenc...

Re: Film & Video Maker Magazine
A starter for ten. Something I'm interested in... What's everybody's experience of entering film festivals? You pays your money and never hear from them again except maybe a "not selected" on the last minute of notification date on Film Freeway. Are we wasting our money? Are some of them l...

Film & Video Maker Magazine
Re: FVM magazine. I will be taking over as editor for the next but one issue – i.e the issue dated October 2022. I’m excited to do my bit for the IAC and to be the best editor I can be to take the magazine forward. I can’t do this all by myself however and will be extremely grateful if all the regul...

Re: BIAFF 2022
Martin, how can it be the "stand out film" for you if you don't understand what's going on? I can appreciate a meaningless film if it looks particularly beautiful, or it contains stimulating montages, but this had neither. Surreal yes, certainly that, but where's the point. I can agree wi...

Re: BIAFF 2022
"Face the Music": I may not have completely understood what was going on in this film but this was one of the stand-out films for me this year. I loved it's surreal edge. It put me in mind of the bizarre world created by Flann O'Brien in the Third Policeman. It made my spine tingle. Anothe...

Hats off to your courage for posting this Howard. And I, for one, am glad that you are not put off making your great films. And here's to the one-man-band filmmakers of the world.

FVM June 2021
On page 21 there is an article about the film "Fly by Northern Scotland" at the foot of which is the following link to view said film: http://1drv.ms/v/s!ArpK2Tc5bmLYtjqlc_rhlsF-7Sa-?e=YxSzge Now from a print magazine that's an awful lot to type in. It took me three goes before I finally c...

Re: About Death (Sobre la Muerte)
Given what Ned and Dave have said, this is something that would never be allowed in any industry whatsoever - a single point of failure - a train-crash in waiting. But on the original topic. I agree and sign up to Howard's idea. But also a feel that some sort of declaration pertaining to budget ough...

Re: THE BIAFF WEEKEND
I thought it a fabulous weekend of super, enjoyable and varied films. It was also well run and the hosts did a great job with mastery of the zoom interface.
IAC Open screen nights are a great idea and I look forward to the one in May.
