Willy said " Keep making films. You're good  better than most of us. We always get disillusioned after a bad film. I do, and still am, but when the time is right, I`ll make another film. When you get kicked hard in the nuts. It takes along time for it to heal. Stingman Oh Ian, I am not d...

Having sat on both sides of the competition fence remember that judges give it their best shot and also accept that judging is SUBJECTIVE.... We also have to sit back and look at the judge's comments and relate them to the movie, if we follow the judges suggestions will a better movie be the result...

"Michael Slowe": Ned's right, the dreaded word 'amateur' is the killer. NON-COMMERCIAL FILMMAKERS ! Yes, I agree with Ned, with Michael and Ray. We must avoid the word "amateur". I will do my best to use the word n-c filmmaker in the future. Maybe an idea ! Dave asked us to keep...

Yes it would be helpful to give the IAC a higher public profile, but how can we do that within our means? Dave Money ! Maybe the answer is not blowing in the wind. Jan has written it on the home page : "Throughout February 2008 the Government is running the first ever national survey of amamte...

Yes it would be helpful to give the IAC a higher public profile, but how can we do that within our means? Dave Yes, we are checkmated now by what Dave says. We need money ! Advertising costs. Couldn't we have a chat with the Minister of Education and ask him to help us ? There must be art classes i...

Re: Time For A Change

Why are we all getting so uptight about age? A film maker is a film maker of whatever age. The young people who have ambitions in the industry DO join clubs. It's the low profile of the IAC that's a problem. Willy's suggestion of young people's competitions would only show up the huge gap in tastes...

people in their 50's (a) are more settled in family, career and home ... Maybe you are right, Dave. In some way I agree with you. I have a new secretary in my Willebroek club. He celebrated his birthday some weeks ago. He was 58 when he joined our club. Now he is 60. I am a very lucky chairman now. ...

Today I received the AMPS-magazine. In it a photograph of an Oklahoma Group of young filmmakers. This is it, I thought. Why don't we give extra room for young cineasts in our magazines and even on this website ? A special "corner" for the ones who are still in their twenties, thirties, for...

Seperate teams under same umbrella organization. What we could try, Ned, is to find young people who are willing to work as seperate teams but under the umbrella of our organizations like AMPS, IAC, CvB, NOVA, etc... They have their own chairman and secretary ... but they are all members of the sam...

d) Try not to make them too hard for people overseas reading the websites and for whom English is not the first language. Dave[/quote] Maybe you thought of me, Dave. Yes, I'm a John Foreigner. I'm very frail. "Frailty thy name is Belgian !". I think that William Shakespeare has written thi...

To the rule of thirds as mentioned by Ian, I can add the 80/20 rule which is a useful guide for shooting landscape scenes. The idea is that the horizon will be either on a line 20% up from the bottom of the frame or 20% down from the top with the remaining 80% being sky or land respectively. You wi...

Time for a Change !

Yesterday I was in Bladel. It's a town in Holland not far from the Dutch-Belgian border. I was asked to show some of my films. My films "An Irish Moment", "Together with Yoda" and "Breendonk" were screened. There were many people. Afterwards it appeared that not only th...
