Re: I love my casablanca!

Hi Willie, Your plight has brought tears to my eyes. Two years ago I lost my beloved Sony 900, my first digital camera, under similar circumstances. But wait, all is not lost; my old camera makes an excellent sound recorder so is still very much in demand. I am not the one to advise on new cameras. ...

Re: 'Low Energy' lamps

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all. I have just replaced my fitted ceiling lights with LED lamps. These were six 50w low voltage quartz halogen bulbs each with its own transformer. They ran so hot that in one instance one scorched the beam. I have found 4w LED main voltage lamps that, altho...

Re: NTSC DVDs with Nero Start Smart

Hi Tom, I have sent some of my videos to my daughter in Texas and she can't get them to play on her machine. This is some time ago and perhaps things have changed. She is not very skilled with video matters though her husband is more so than her. I wonder what DVD player your contact in the US uses....

Re: Is Green Screen Overated?

I have little experience of blue/green screen but as an animator on the occasions I have used it, it worked well. I only needed a small screen and a coloured piece of cardboard two foot square did the job. I would reccomend it as a very useful piece of equipment in this size but I would not like to ...

Competition Results

I've just got a large envelope back from the Guernsey Lily Festival. It contained my two films, certificates and critical reports on them from the judges. On reading them it sounded more as though I had won a top award rather than a much less prestigious rating. The main thing was that they were enc...

Creation of club websites

Hi Dave, Your article on the creation of club websites was very good and much appreciated. I particularly liked the simplicity of it. If only I had a club within reasonable travelling distance to try it out! I hope you will put it in a booklet an make it available through the IAC. Sad news from Guer...

Re: MR ANGRY and the CLUB WEBSITES

Hi All, Sadly I must agree with what Peter states in his article. The reason is usualy said to be lack of time and the cost. I live a long way from any club and my particular intrest is in animation which as most will know is fairly labour intensive. I rely greatly on net sites for information and I...

Re: Future Structure of the IAC Website

Hi All, I look at the IAC site most days and do not feel that any radical change is required. The IAC provides excellent services and many of these depend on the site and are available through it. However the demise of local clubs has been mentioned, many of the smaller ones have already closed. The...

Re: Judges and their credibility

I’ve been following this topic with interest. I have submitted a number of films to competitions and have received bizarre comments that I couldn’t understand, unhelpful and even derogatory and upsetting comments from judges. Once I almost gave up film making altogether because of a particularly nas...

Re: Do we need a new editor for FVM?

I am very happy with the FVM as it is and give my full support to Garth. I think it is very important to support our magazine especially now when there is no commercial magazine at present on the market which deals with our hobby. From a personal point of view, Garth has always been most kind and he...

Re: Don't make a film about a clubmate's wife !

Hi Willie, I think you should not go ahead with your film under in the present circumstances. Put your script on one side but if you can go ahead with the interview do so. Even if this cannot be filmed, once the opportunity of direct contact is lost it may not return. Would the Lady in question be w...

Re: Premiere 6.5 editing

I am no expert but I believe that a Project in P6.5 is mearly a list of references to clips that are stored probably elsewhere on the hard drive and unless you move the clips themselves as well as the Project, the external HD. will refer back to the original drive to collect the clips. I would advis...

Re: Future Structure of the IAC Website

As a fairly new member of this forum I must agree that it seems a little complicated. Regarding clubs, many have gone and as a result, in rural areas it may be difficult to get to a club. My nearest is over 80 miles awayand I am not so nimble now as I was once. Therefore I am dependant on The IAC an...
