Great thread, guys. I guess you're all familliar with the magazine 'Small Format' - a real eye-opener in to following that film still has.
I posted one of my Super-8 films up on YouTube and one of the replies was to the effect of how good my 'film look' was.

Interesting that you should say that Billy (and thanks for your comment on the Youtube site) because ths little film cost me more in discarded footage than any other film I've ever made. And that was because of the difficulty in getting steady shots under water and the short time you can stay under,...

Super-8 on Youtube
OK guys and galls, if you've got 6 minutes and a cup of coffee, you can have a get-fit session just by sitting back and watching tom frolicking weightless in the water. This little film was shot in 1983 so I was 24 years younger, had a lot more hair but as I remember it not a lot more fitness. Techn...

audio delay box
Because of the problem of picture and audio being out of sync, I wrote up about the digital audio delay corrector in Positive Image last year. See page 7 of your May/June 2006 issue.

Paul - nothing's infinite. When you pop a DVD into your computer's drive and click on 'copy', the player attempt to read every single digit, from the menu pages and music used, the audio compression and subtitles, the date it was made, the end titles, both layers and all the chapter points. These ar...

Re: Film competitions - Mini DV or DVD?

Quite untrue Billy. A DVD copy of a DVD is a perfect copy. They're both di...

The Video Forum
I've been at the Video Forum these last couple of days and took my Z1 with me to film through different converter lenses. It's a great place to do things like this - with so much under one roof. I've given today a miss though - I'm sure there's the wrong type of snow on the tracks and my train would...

Making DVDs to send to the USA
What's the latest on making DVDs to send to the USA, good people? I send perfectly normal PAL tapes to my brother in NTSC Canada and he tells me they play perfectly well on his kit. His latest buy is a Sanyo TV with an inbuilt DVD player, and that too plays my PAL discs perfectly. But that may just ...

Film competitions - Mini DV or DVD?
Here's a question for the competition teams out there - would the organisers rather have the filmmakers enter their masterpieces as DVDs or tape? I think we can discount VHS and Super-8 now, but I'm thinking that having the word 'tape' on the competition application form can bring you in all sorts o...

You've been asked to sit in judgement, Col. You've got to be as impartial as is possible. Whatever your views on the subject matter, leave them at home. You're there to sit in judgement of the film in its own rights, not to worry about censorship. Leave that to others; they're leaving the technical ...
