Re: USB3 advice
Pete USB 3 HDs will be read and written to by both USB 1 and 2 ports. We have two WD portable USB drives (Passport and AV versions) and both work great with all our PCs and iMac. A word of warning for others reading this post, external drives formatted in NTFS will be read by a Mac but not written to.

Re: Adobe and CS5
I only frequent the forum occasionally nowadays and today is the day. Can I add some advice. CS5 is solid and stable (kiss of death for my system) as I still use CS5 on the rare occasions I edit video. Restore points are excellent but it always pays to have a full backup of your system drive. Window...

Panasonic TM 900 HD camcorder for sale
I am looking to sell my camcorder, the TM 900 model is exactly the same as the SD 900 model but the TM includes 32Gb of internal memory in addition to an SD card. It is in very good condition and in the last two years it has only recorded some 30 minutes of video. Selling because it is now surplus t...

Thanks Tim.
I have modified the post to include a reference to Adobe Premiere as it is that software which is primarily intended to be used.

Re: A guide to a PC's specifcation
2nd July 2015 and an update on the specification for a PC: - NOTE this specification is primarily intended for Adobe Premiere, you will need to ensure that your chosen editing software's specification matches that which follows. ASUS Z97 Pro motherboard Intel i7 CPU 4790k 16 Gb RAM (give your system...

Re: AVCHD camcorders and editing
2nd July 2015 and I have updated the PC specification to the latest hardware. Please note that this is a HD editing PC specification and not 4k. The PC specification is: - ASUS Z97 Pro motherboard Intel i7 CPU 4790k 16 Gb RAM (give your system builder this spec with the instruction for them to sourc...

Re: Exporting from CS6 to V tape
What is the audio settings on the timeline that you are exporting?
You can also try exporting to a file and then import that into a Premiere standard DV project. Then export that timeline.

Re: EPSON PRINTER PROBLEM
Strange, I could see the drivers and via a seperate drop down the CD software utility.
I did not try to download them, but it does not surprize me you had issues as Epson can be fickle, I had problems with another printer. My Wifes Canon was worst to update to Win 7

Re: EPSON PRINTER PROBLEM
Roy
Did you ignore my post advising of the download location?
There are Win 7 64 bit drivers plus CD software which is in the utilities.
I had the same problem a couple of years ago and the drivers worked with no problem.

Easily sorted. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=26322&infoType=Downloads&platform=OSF_W_8-64 Windows 7 & 8 generally require that new drivers are installed and is common to most makes. Downloading the drivers and utilities and installing them should get you so...

Re: DSLR advice
Pete It may be a stupid question, but will she be capable of changing a lens? Someone on Fb had to ask how to do just that and if in the future she is not likely to progress onto using much manual controls then a Bridge camera would be better. It is better to use a DSLR/Bridge for video rather than ...

Re: DSLR advice
Pete The Canon in my opinion is the wrong camera. Panasonic Lumix do three excellent cameras, any would suit. FZ200 which is a bridge camera so it looks like a full DSLR but has a fixed lens with a long optical zoom. My Wife has one and its an awesome camera, there is a magic Ai button which is auto...

Re: Judging Panels
Tony Take note of Michael's advice he is right. Judging is essentially subjective and the processes followed at BIAFF and within the NW are totally different. BIAFF your movie would have been judged by a panel and if it was graded above a certain level it would have then been reviewed by a totally d...

Alas Howard Gregory too late was the cry. I feel for you with the Laptop issue and you seem to have taken advice if your (Thanks Colin) comment refers to my PC Spec sticky. Laptops are fickle, I have an ASUS N56V which performs great & I can edit AVCHD in realtime on it. Now for the big BUT, I d...

Re: Sounds a bargain
A two man band = 200 videos produced in 2014 = 1 hour 40 minutes for each person to produce a single video.
Now that is quite a workload, even if the media is sent to them.
