Re: You Tube .......again
If the licence does not allow web use then, why bother with it, and why bother staying with the IAC?

Re: Why not usb-sticks at BIAFF?
Alas its not that simple. At PMM we have a BR player and a DVD player recorder and on many occasions we have received a disc that will not play on one of the devices, the only time when neither player would play a disc was when the disc concerned was a rewritable. To play any solid state file the pl...

Re: PREM CS6 PROBLEM
Peter, you must be a reincarnation of Jonah ;-) Check out the Adobe help system https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/no-sound-playback-premiere-pro.html I had a similar problem a few years ago and for me that turned out to be the ASIO drivers, installing updated soundcard drivers fixed the proble...

Re: Is crowd-funding still "amateur"?
What is an amateur? What is the crowdfunding going to be used for? If it is for expenses, equipment and props then these are "benefits in kind" and hence professional or at least semi professional. Also either way, if the completed movie then makes money then that is not an amateur movie i...

Re: Another problem - Encore this time
Your hard drive in the PC may be say 500Gb but once formatted it will be less, the same with a DVD.
So compress more and produce an IMG file then, use the freeware IMGBURN to write the file to the DVD.
I have been suggesting this method for years as Encore is a bit flaky at times burning to Disc.

Re: Copying a file to a memory stick
Can I add that memory sticks can also be formatted ExFat, this will allow files upto 2Tb to be written so as memory sticks are nowhere near this capacity you will be OK with this. A Mac will read Fat32 formats and also read NTFS, but a Mac will not write to NTFS but they will read and write ExFat. H...

Re: Living with the iMac.
Ned
FCPX can edit AVCHD natively it can also easily edit the 4K video files that I produce on the Lumix DSLR that I have.
One area where FCPX seems to be way behind Premiere is in the variety of output formats and available adjustments. Or it maybe that I have not yet found the settings to use.

Re: Living with the iMac.
Michael I first saw a demo and had 1/2 hour hands on with Media 100 over twenty years ago and at the time thought it would dominate the market, but Media Studio and Premiere soon dominated. A total crime as Media 100 was and still is superb. As for Prores, let me reiterate it is an AIC, that is an Ap...

Re: Living with the iMac.
Yes Ned, that to is a concern that I have and one that I have commented upon with other Mac users. I still have the first edited files and original captured 8mm video and they still play on my PC twenty years later, that said my version of Premiere is 5.5 so its getting on and OK for HD but my PC is...

Re: Living with the iMac.
My PC has a firewird card added so a few years ago I spent days recording all my MiniDV tapes onto my PC, I copied the hard drive where the files were recorded so I had a backup and then sold my MiniDV camcorder to a member of the IAC. I have no idea about capturing miniDV to an iMac as I am still w...

Re: Living with the iMac.
Sorry Ian been away for a couple of weeks and not accessed forum until now. If I were you I would get all the old minidv material you have digitized onto a hard drive. Then dump or sell the minidv camcorder as your 5k is capable of editing 4k video it would be a shame to record anything other than H...

Re: AVCHD camcorders and editing
My advice has now changed, ignore considering updating or replacing your PC and buy a 5k iMac instead. It is far less hasstle and the iMac simply just works. Yes it is expensive but if you consider a new PC as a mini from the nineteen sixties then an iMac is the latest top of the range Merc or BMW. ...

Re: A guide to a PC's specifcation
This is my last post within this thread as I am now a convert to Apples iMac and I have no intention of spending anymore time researching Windows based PCs. The specification for a PC is based on Adobe Premieres requirements. Consider the specifcation as a starter but above all DO NOT assume that a ...

Living with the iMac.
A few weeks ago we jumped ship from PC to iMac, by buying an Apple 5k machine which is mainly for editing images. Its for my Wife whose old PC was not up to smoothly running Adobes Photoshop and Lightroom subscription bundle and not be stymied by all the anti virus/malware software. Well a few weeks...
