Re: The Magnificent Bronzes of St Pancras

I have to agree with you, I think it's a fascinating statue, and you capture its 3Dness very well. I love the frieze at the base too - looks wonderfully detailed! What lens did you use? there's some interesting wide angle distortion as you pan up the statue at the start... Also, I'm impressed you d...

Re: Borehamwood on the brink ... ?

I think it's spineless for a club to run for the hills scared at allowing young people to join their club, or to insist that every member is CRB checked fiorst or whatever :-) OVFM's Young people's policy: When we decided we needed one, we came up with this.: 1. Young persons aged 14 to 17 are welco...

Re: How can we make "different" films of the holidays?

Thanks Tim and Dave, the ones toward the end are much more surprising/interesting... - You'll be surprised to learn, that it was all filmed on my iPhone - Yet another reason to show that you don't need expensive equipment to make a film if you really want to! I used to have an active video productio...

Re: How can we make "different" films of the holidays?

Just noticed this - Last month I went to Romania on a kind of working Holiday, and made a video Blog every day I was there. The format could certainly be an alternative to a "holiday film". I started having never done anything like it before, and filmed during the day, edited during the ev...

Re: YouTube views

Updates don't happen instantly, and come in sort of batches too. A lot of the celeb bloggers will have 300 views for a few hours to a day after their latest release, when you know it should be in the tens to hundreds of of 000s of views. Also, every now and then, They have a cull of removing views t...

Re: Borehamwood on the brink ... ?

At Orpington, I think we have a slightly different outlook. Even though the dream is to have 20 or so new 16-25s join, I think you're setting yourself an impossible target. For the majority of youngsters, it may be too much of a culture shock to walk into a room of people 40+ years older than you, a...

Re: Borehamwood on the brink ... ?

My facebook address is http://www.facebook.com/Chrisfilm and the fan page I referred to above is at http://www.facebook.com/teegofreya My business is very local as I fix computers doing home visits, so advertising to anyone further than 5-10 miles away from me is a complete waste of money. Facebook ...

Re: Borehamwood on the brink ... ?

It's a heartbreaking scenario that sadly isn't that uncommon. The most frustrating thing is that you know there are people who'd want to join out of the 100,000 people in the locality, but the problem is getting your message to them! One interesting thing that i've discovered just this week is Faceb...

Re: You Tube and Windows

It's all to do with HTML5, a new internet standard, which allows programmers to write one page of code that works and displays equally well on smartphones and large screen desktop PCs. Currently, the best browser for conforming to the HTML5 standards is Chrome, with Firefox not far behind. IE8 is ok...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

Also Vimeo doesn't put adverts over your videos like YouTube sometimes does. Just to correct a common misconception about Youtube, it doesn't put adverts over your videos unless you specifically ask them to (or you've illegally used copyright music in your film). Until recently the option was only ...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

I have "The Raven" uploaded on the youtube, but the viewing options are set on private, so if anyone's interested (maybe) to see it, I'll have to add your username on the list. I suppose this may be a bit off-topic (or at least seem like a blatant self-promotion  )but I haven't foun...

Re: Changing your club name

This may be an age issue - as a mere 43 year old, I have NEVER been "to the movies". I have only ever been to the cinema, to watch a FILM..

For a night in, I would go to Blockbusters to get either a DVD or a Film too....

Are there any DSLRs for filmmakers?

I popped into PC world the other day, and thought I'd talk to the chap about DSLRs for video. I have Canon lenses, so ideally I'd like another, but also for filmmaking, a mic socket, manual recording levels and headphone socket are absolutely the bare minimum. It seems that all the cameras now have ...

Re: DV Doctor hack and just how safe is your web access logi

imagine if you never use the internet, and only pay by telephone. You speak to the British Gas operator, with a funny accent on the other side of the world, and dutifully give him your credit card details, cos you're too smart to risk it on the internet. He types it into his computer system and your...
