Re: Premiere 6.5 problems and HD,

"Is this the way you work? " Thanks for assuming I work, Tom! More playing at messing around. I think I must have unwittingly downconverted once before that's why it was 720X576. Done it deliberately today and it worked OK for what I wanted but will probably shoot in SD in future as it mak...

Re: Premiere 6.5 problems and HD,

Thanks once again, Tom. The camcorder question was solved when I took the opportunity of taking ( I can hardly say buying) one on offer from a member not long after I put this query up. As for the source window squeezing 16:9 to 4:3 - it doesn't do it with footage from our Sony Z5 , supposedly HD, o...

replacement for Mitshubishi HC4000

Our projector is letting us down, not the girlie pink cast of Dave's but stripes of red and blue chequer patter at one side and 2/3 way across a 16:9 frame. Appears after a variable time from a few minutes to not at all in 90 minutes. We think a replacement is best option unless you know different. ...

Re: BluRay and usb players with audio out

Just to let you know we have returned the LG, but have had a couple of 'trying to be helpful' mails from LG. They realise that the trouble is that things are made to fit in with contemporary models of other things as though one were always setting up from scratch which is where the market preumably ...

Re: BluRay and usb players with audio out

Thanks for your interest, John. A member has an LG and Argos had one for£49.00 Too cheap? Perhaps but others have found LG very good so why spend more. Our home Sony has the same problem except has a PCM coax out but we're not sure what would go between that and an amplifier. Afraid I've taken the e...

BluRay and usb players with audio out

With more members wanting to bring films on USB sticks we are looking for a device that will play from DVD, Bluray and USB and have audio out to amplifier as well as HDMI to the projector. Most seem to be just HDMI, fine for TVs with their own audio out connections but our Mitshubishi projector does...

Re: Club Insurance

Sorry for delay. I ought to say that our renewed insurance is with the brokers recommended by IAC.
They didn't come back to me with quote for 5 million third party but I'm pretty sure that 2 million is sufficient.

Re: Premiere 6.5 problems and HD,

Sorry for delay. Thanks, Tim, I'm a bit slow understanding these things but when my grandson said 'look at the properties' of the clips I find that they show the figures for 4:3 as you say.

Re: Club Insurance

Yes, Lee, but they did say I should phone them which I have done this morning and got a quote within a couple of hours. Unfortunately it was 40% more than we are due to pay to the brokers we normally deal with and as I feel the likelihood of a claim is minimal I'm afraid we'll have to stick with the...

16:9 frames exported for stills are also 4:3 and have to be stretched back to 16:9

Re: Club Insurance

Thanks, Lee. I've contacted your firm but was a bit put off when they offered a proposal form that was obviously related to domestic property cover but they say they do cover some clubs and charities. Regarding how much to be insured for my neighbour runs a technical consultancy business and "t...

Premiere 6.5 problems and HD,

Yes!! The old original 6.5 which still does everything I want. But on the film I've been working on for the last week the source window has reverted to 4:3 and I cannot find how to alter it. I say 'reverted' as my main project just now has a lot of 4:3 in it. That looks OK but the 16:9 footage in th...

Club Insurance

We have club third party liability insurance for £2Million.
Does anyone know whether this is still enough?
The Leeds & Liverpool Canal were originally insisting on £5 million but they were acting as though we were professional with a crew of several
and not being helpful. Still aren't!
Thanks.

Club insurance

We have just received from Insurance Brokers Gallagher information on the insurance act 2015.
Does anyone with better understanding of 'small print' matters know if this throws up any special challenges for a small club?

Genius of the Modern World

These three programmes by Bettany Hughes (BBC 4) were worth watching for their own sake but, to my eyes, especially the first, on Karl Marx, for the camera work by Tim Knight and the editing by Ivan Probert which was sensational. I would advise film makers to catch it if they can.
