Re: BIAFF 2015 entries

Mon film a également été reçue avoir eu un retard avec le service de boîte postale. (Well one has to add a little international flavour to the proceedings).

Re: BIAFF 2015 entries

I am glad I had a quick look at the forum. I have not received an acknowledgement for my entry for this years festival. I have sent a mail to the competition officer. I was assuming that there was no acknowledgement this year. And watching my bank statement to see if the payment had been made. Anyon...

Re: 4K cameras

Re John Roberts reply regarding the Panasonic GH3 Camera - Thanks for your comments (whether it enlightens Willy?) - I have revisited my camera and while I have had it almost a year, some of the features you mention to me, are not, from the manual immediately apparent. I sort of got into certain hab...

Re: 4K cameras

Re Willy's post and the comments about the Panasonic Lumix GH3. I purchased a GH3 just over 12 months ago and I find it an excellent camera. But, I have learnt that you need to take time with it. In 'movie' mode everything is manual, which really in no big deal if you come from a stills camera backg...

Re: LILLIPUT 7" MONTOR

Hi Col, Re the 7" monitor I borrowed. I was told to turn it 'off' for charging the battery. but it did not charge. However, my colleague who loaned it to me came back telling me to turn it 'on' when charging the battery, this worked and fully charged the battery. Odd, but in order to turn the m...

Re: LILLIPUT 7" MONTOR

Thanks Col,

I guess there is not a lot I can do with this as it is not mine having borrowed it.

My only fear is that if I purchase one, will it behave the same. Presumably with a new battery I will be able to use it off mains power which is the problem.

LILLIPUT 7" MONTOR

Hello Forum members, I have been 'off air' for quite some time. I am busy trying to make a film which I am compounded with the usual problems. However, my technical question is, if some one can help is: I have a Lumix GH3 DSLR and I am using a borrowed external 7" monitor (I think it is a Lilli...

Re: August 2012 issue of Film & Video Maker

Yes, Dave. For once I was tempted to post something about it. I thought it was certainly an interesting issue between the pages. It is a pity the forum appears to have gone into the doldrums. Is it the weather? Has everyone exhausted all the topics and all the answers. Not a lot going on in our neck...

My Mr Pro Soundman whom I have known for many a year tells me:

'it's a slang but common usage term for the type of windshield that fits over a rifle/shotgun mic, normally rigid but with optional furry cover'

Re: DEADLINE FOR IAC WEBSITE COMPETITION and BIAFF 31 Jan

There is a real buzz ... despite the fact that many festival visitors are old farts like me. Speak for one's self! I am only trying out the quote unquote! I had to tinker a number of times to make work. I did not realise that you have to had to have a new message started. When I clicked on the quot...

Re: DEADLINE FOR IAC WEBSITE COMPETITION and BIAFF 31 Jan

Do not be disappointed, Pqtrick or Ian. Ian is your real name isn't it? Some years ago you were sitting next to me at the Gala dinner. Thanks your message Willy . Yes I did sit next to you at a dinner at BIAFF Chesterfield. I have to be repatriated back home to Lyon by Air Ambulance because I picke...

Re: DEADLINE FOR IAC WEBSITE COMPETITION and BIAFF 31 Jan

Everyone seems so excited!

How did we do? Mine again this year Les *** trois etoiles. D'accord, I suppose, but feeling disappointed, my third attempt, I can't ascend to the next rung.

Comments by the judges were surprisingly upbeat and other than a few niggles they liked my filum.

Re: Mercalli image stabilisation

Yes, Tom, I have Edius Neo 3 the lightweight version, which also has Mercalli image stabilisation with it. It works very well. No substitute for a tripod of course but those odd shots where you must hand hold or following shots it certainly smooths out the bumps. I did some filming from a large road...

Re: Club Competition

This idea is done at my Midlands club. I am somewhat cool towards it. It is part of the each years annual programme, together with another evening devoted to 'Movie to Music' i.e. matching a soundtrack to a members own video images. Perhaps a hangover from the days of cine, when it really was a chal...

Re: FESTIVALS - celebrations or competitions?

Yes ! I prefer the expression 'Festival' or celebration of film as as screening rather than a constant round of competitions. Obviously? there are certain events where films need to be openly appraised and then come out as being graded according to its merits. Most film makers want their epics to be...
