Re: Best movie tips

When filming action for documentaries, use both eyes, anticipate the next move and use the one in the back of your head; so that you don’t fall off the pavement!

IS WILLY STILL SAD?

Is Willy still sad ? Reading his sad story about the closing of his beloved 'club house' he can be assured that the very same things happen in the UK. In this case, not a movie making club, but a long established children's theatre workshop. The only connection with movie making, is that I endeavou...

SHORT FILMS?

Having made a drama film before I left the UK using actors from a local dramatic society; the only advice I would give, is to go ahead and do it and essentially enjoy it. The duration really is immaterial. You should clearly have a good idea of what you want to get over and when that is achieved tha...

CAMCORDER SPARES

Thanks for your post 'Graeme Webb'. Creative Video in Studley was my first port of call, in fact it is where I bought the camera from. However, I was not favoured with a reply from them. They may be worth another try to redeem themselves. Thanks anyway! Any more offers anywhere?. PW

PANASONIC CAMCORDER SPARE

I have lost the eye cup to my camcorder. :( Does anyone have any contact details for Pansonic, either in the UK or Europe where I could obtain a replacement? I have looked on the net but have not been successful. The camera is a Panasonic DVC30-E and the part number is VMG-1370. It can be generic or...

Movie-Magix

The big guns seem to be either asleep, on the beach or painting the back fence! If I can make a contribution, you could have a look at 'MovieMagix'. [ www.magix.com ] According to the specification of Movie Edit Pro Plus, it does cope with Quick-time. It is priced at around 60€, sorry I don't live i...

TO FILM OR NOT TO FILM

WHERE CAN I FILM? The focus of this topic in the forum, suggests that there is no one is really in charge in UK Ltd. There, if you give a local official or security man an ounce of authority, they will interpret what they wish from it. A bit of bloated importance is all that they strive for. France ...

'Ow to get to 'Arrogate?

Ou est 'arrogate ? Now having the shoe sur les autre pied , I can see travelling to film festivals back to the UK is not that easy. How does one, I can say that now, using the French 'on' How does one get to 'Arrogate? Not easily, and in these days of a wide choice of cheap air travel the connectio...

GRAPHICS & DRAWINGS FOR VIDEO FILMS

Has anyone any comments about designing and including graphics in video. I want to include some graphic diagram drawings into a documentary. I can produce the drawings in a graphics package then export the image as either a .jpeg or .bmp or whatever. But what about the file size format and the resol...

The Way We Were

I must heartily endorse Dave W's post about not to underestimate making family films and videos. This New Years Day here in France we were treated to a round of family films which had been transferred to DVD. No moans no groans please! This is a serious topic. The films had been made dating from the...

WHAT IS ENTERTAINING? WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE?

Two short film festivals (Festival du Film Court Métrage) were held here recently in Villeurbanne, France. And being newcomers to the town, out of interest I went with my wife to three of the screenings. Albeit most were made by budding pro film makers and film schools but being only a good walk awa...

First timer - New Home!

Bonjour, This is my posting to the forum. I have recently relocated to the Lyon area of France. My hometown was Nuneaton, Warwickshire UK. Many seasoned IAC members will know of Nuneaton well and the contribution they make to the IAC. I was a member there for many a year, just making documentaries a...
