Re: PC's - keeping it stable and up to date.
I use my editing PC for everything. I use automatic updates for Windows 7. I try not to have too much software installed, and certainly not stuff that I really don't need, which helps with making sure the hard disks don't get too full. I have to agree with billy. I don't do anything special with my...

Re: What key words would identify the IAC website?
It's a bit strange asking us what the IAC does... I think someone should email the chairman or someone on the committee, and ask them that exact question. They will have the direction and the long term strategy of the IAC clearly defined, and the adwords and website strategy should reinforce the ins...

Re: What key words would identify the IAC website?
I think I either misunderstand you , or I disagree with you Dave :-) I don't really understand why you think that the more specific the keywords are, the better. If that was the case, then your most specific keywords possible would be "institute of amateur cinematographers". There. Perfect...

Re: What key words would identify the IAC website?
There is no point in "film", "video", "amateur", "camcorder", "movie" or "club" because they all apply to hundreds of thousands of websites. I think those would be the exact words you'd want to use... I imagine an ideal candidate would sea...

Re: Filming In Public In Scotland
I have a marginally relevant answer, in that a couple of years ago, I was doing some commercial filming in Edinburgh, and somehow, the Scottish film council heard about us (a two man crew) and contacted us to say if we wanted to park anywhere on single yellow lines, to contact them the day before wi...

Re: Wireless Loudspeakers
On the subject of wireless speakers, I had a look at the unit you mentioned on Google, although I didn't spot anyone selling it... It seemed to be around the £10-£30 price range, and I wouldn't expect particularly good radio circuitry in that price range... Although equally, you would expect that ra...

Re: Wireless Loudspeakers
Chrisbitz, this is nothing to do with this tread but I wanted to ask you about your 'You Tube' mention. I was told that Vimeo might be the better site for longer films, also better picture quality. Do you have any views on this? I have a number of short films on You Tube, mind you I can never even ...

YouTube, Vimeo or another video host?
Chrisbitz, I wanted to ask you about your 'You Tube' mention. I was told that Vimeo might be the better site for longer films, also better picture quality. Do you have any views on this? I have a number of short films on You Tube, mind you I can never even find them so goodness knows what the point...

Re: Wireless Loudspeakers
I'd be interested to know which ones you tried - do you know the model or possibly even a link to their website?

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?
Mind you, I can't see an AV section flourishing very well at OVFM at the moment ... not unless the walls are rubberised to allow more people in ... but 'twinning' might be an option ... one day ... maybe ... in years to come ... is that Orpington Visual Arts club, or Orpington VIDEO AND FILM...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?
The Cleethorpes club Dave referred to earlier seems to have combined the talents of both disciplines very well I'm not sure I agree with you. They have distinctly separate days for each discipline. They don't have a single evening where everyone from every format all shows their own films at the sa...

Re: Using a HD camcorder makes you a better videographer
In sufficient posts to get me to elaborate. It doesn't look like anyone else feels like posting.. Why not elaborate anyway? I'd like to hear your reasons. I'm assuming it's more than - Clearer pictures amplify slight mistakes, that might otherwise have been lost in SD shots, or something along thos...

Re: What should IAC be thinking about?
I'm compelled to disagree with Mike (for once!) I have never seen an impressive "AV", whatever that is. What's wrong with calling it a Slideshow? Unless I'm barking up the wrong tree, isn't an "AV" a slideshow with music? And I'm sure the music isn't a modern invention. Throughou...
