Re: Canon's new HV40

You mean that doesn't use tape? Tape is on it's way out but so is analogue TV, doesn't mean it doesn't work perfectly well.

Re: Canon HV30

Just to get some background here Dot. You've been editing DV footage on this pc from another (earlier) camcorder? Successfully using firewire? Then I suggest that if you've shot in the HDV mode in the Canon that you downconvert it to DV (in the HV30's menu) and feed that to the pc down firewire. All...

Re: Canon HV30

What's to 'install' Dorothy? Simply connect the camera by Firewire and press play on the HV30.

Re: Best movie tips

Remember variety is the spice of life. Surprise and delight your viewer. Use the dynamic range of the video and audio. Use manual exposure and vary the focal length, pov, filming speed and scene length.

Billy, my initial impression upon seeing the Z7 was, 'I want one'. But I should say that the Z1 has never let me down, never faltered and never failed to bring home the goods, whatever the lighting or weather conditions. So I went to the Video Forum at Earls Court and tried my much-loved Bolex Asphe...

The Jan Feb 09 FVM is going to be late I hear - due to the printers shutting down over Christmas. So don't be expecting it till mid Jan.

Ian, if you look back to your March / April 2003 issue of FVM you'll find my Positive Image article on buying second hand. What to look for, how to go about it, and questions to ask.

We're getting a bit off topic here but just to say in judging the North West Region film competition I was sent a Mini DV tape recorded in HDV by a Canon HV10. I couldn't play it on either of my Sony HDV cams, so incompatibilities are commonplace. The good news is that upscaling DVD players work ver...

The FX1 at £800 is a snip. It's under half new price and seeing as how you know the seller - that's worth a lot when you buy secondhand. You say it's 'well used'. You mean tired and whacked out or just used weekly? I've just sold a VX2000 for £750 so I consider the FX1 at £800 to be a fair price. Ch...
