Wouldn't give you tuppence for the car shot (though nothing to do with the barrel distortion), but the train carriage shot is superb.
Where's my Mastercard ... oh damn, Mrs Tim's hiding it again.

Re: Changing your club name
though I thought I'd been welcoming in my email reply, though warning him that we were not great on discussing the latest gizmos, he never turned up, nor replied to my polite enquiry as to why not. That's very sad, but not unusual, Peter. I hope it doesn't put you off battling away too much. I'm su...

Re: Changing your club name
I hate the term 'movie' ... because it is associated in the public mind with 'Home Movies'. Without wishing to make an argument out of this (I'm genuinely interested), do you have anything to back this up, or are you simply assuming that because you (and maybe many others you talk to) associate it ...

Re: Changing your club name
We (Staines) recently changed to Video Makers - not an option in your list. (Though I see it's since been edited) Personally, I prefer (and voted for) Movie Makers as I like the alliteration and it rolls off the tongue nicely. The main objection seems to be that "Movie" is considered by so...

Re: DEADLINE FOR IAC WEBSITE COMPETITION and BIAFF 31 Jan
Officially the star ratings mean that the film: That, together with the stats and the description of how films are selected for showing at the festival, make for a fantastic post, Dave. Thanks. I agree, Emily's success in getting four stars in her first ever entry is fantastic Though I was somewhat...

Re: DEADLINE FOR IAC WEBSITE COMPETITION and BIAFF 31 Jan
Well, I ended up with a two-, a three, and a four-star so I guess I got all bases covered. The four star was for my Merry Xmas 2010 which will be familiar to many on the forum. Indeed it was largely down to the encouragement of the comments here that I entered it in BIAFF. As it's just a fun family ...

Re: DEADLINE FOR IAC WEBSITE COMPETITION and BIAFF 31 Jan
I'm still waiting to get notification I've hit the 2-star level this year ... maybe they're working 'top down ... and my entry is worth only 1 star :( I share the same fears here, Mike. One of ours has received his results (a three star and a four star), but nothing for me yet. Or maybe he's workin...

Re: Idea for project or competition
... leading to members and clubs up and down the country falling foul of copyright laws?
I agree it's a clever and (to put it in the vernacular) a fun thing to do, but I don't think we should be seen to encourage it.

That's fantastic, John. Hopefully the fact that you have enlightened some of your members about the benefits of this forum will encourage others to join - so it's wins all round.

Re: Feedback and closing posts
Its a fact that if we look back through posts not just on this forum but on others that problems are often solved fairly quickly so it does seem strange that in one case after two weeks the original poster has not responed despite him posting on other topics. Some people simply don't have the court...

Re: Club Competition
Sorry I can't be more supportive, but in my experience the end result is generally on a par with the one line gag film with a rather corny commentary rather than creative thinking! No need to apologise - I wasn't looking for any support of the idea - I was just throwing it into the melting pot for ...

Re: Exactly what constitutes 'Amateur'?
The rules for the new Sarnia Festival has a paragraph saying "without professional assistance other than processing, copying or the physical process of sound transfer", which would obviously exclude any entrant that used professional actors or wedding/event/SI movie makers. It's "wit...
