Re: Learning Curve

John, those three vdeos are coming up as "private". Please change the status to "Unlisted" which means anyone with the specific link can see it, but it won't be seen by idle browsers.

Re: Filming Northern lights

That is one beautiful video, Dave. Thanks to you and Sakari for contriving to post it here.
Funnnily enogh my favourite shot doesn't even include the Aurora. It's the second shot - with the snow covered trees. It looks so other-worldly. I'm reminded of Roger Dean artwork.

Re: How would you start a local club

22 miles isn't that far as IAC affilliated clubs go, if you look at the directory. And even with the clubs so few and far between most seem to struggle to gain a membership so it's hard to see how you might generate interest ... .. that is, if you were to form a club along the lines of existing club...

Re: BIAFF IAC Professionalism?

:? However, there remains quite a difference between that and "calling in" what is further expertise from outside! It is a tricky question, or rather, a tricky answer, Lee. Not only is there the question of what constutues a "professional", but you've now introduced the concept ...

Re: BIAFF IAC Professionalism?

Quite apart from the reason that Tom so succinctly explains, if one starts to draw up a rule which states "no involvement by professionals" it starts to become a messy case of where to draw the line. I know of a number of clubs who have professional filmmakers within their ranks - does tha...

Re: New Panasonic AG-AC90

Thanks for the explanation, Tom. The only excuses I can offer for not having understood it from Positive Image are (a) I've been receiving FVM for less than two years, (b) the fact that I seem to struggle to remember much these days, and (c) I've been receiving FVM for less than two years. In all se...

Re: Video with a mobile phone

A movie produced only on an iPhone would be perfectly viewable and you would not know what it was shot with Oh yes you would! Simply because every movie I've ever seen produced on an iPhone is accompanied by the maker proudly announcing (either in person or via titles on the film) "I made this...

Re: New Panasonic AG-AC90

I have been promised hands-on opportunity as soon as they come in (October 1st) so will post my inexpert impressions here. It sounds to me like you ought to do a mini-review for FVM. Please do post here first though. Thanks for opening up this conversation Peter, and Tom your advice and knowledge a...

Re: New Panasonic AG-AC90

So up pops this AC90, and it's a 900 with XLR connectivity. All the rest is consumer spec: Indeed, but the spec of a very good consumer cam PLUS what looks like two control rings and manual buttons for easy access to manual functions. All things that have been missing for a while in consumer cams a...

Re: EPH HOROWITZ 1916 - 2012

Thanks for the links, Dave. I found the film a bit "tell us something we don't know" for a while, but once he got into the "What can you buy for a penny?" I was right there with him.

Re: It's content that counts (as if we didn't know)

Since the usual links to similar films include others on the subject I checked a few. Ugh. Some were simple recordings from a static camera. Nothing was so well made and clear as yours. Thanks Dave, I guess being "best in class" definitely helped this film's stats. I think these sorts of ...
