Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham
I do agree, Tim, though time is always pressing as David Newman tries to chase up notes from the judges, plan the BIAFF timetable, and write to all the entrants in time for them to know if their work will be shown or not. Worth exploring. For those who find the notes off-putting, you might consider ...

Re: FVM MAGAZINE - FEBRUARY 2019
Sorry about the delayed response - distracted by family matters. Cathy, why don't you ask Linda Gough directly? Her postal, email addresses and phone number are on the official merchandise order form on the IAC website. I don't want to write it here, where it might be grabbed by a spambot. I am pret...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham
Well the BIAFF results are being sent out ... imagine the work for Competition Manager, David Newman. I helped a young Georgian film maker to enter a film called "World-Light" in BIAFF - sending money from there would have been awkward. Jan and I were impressed by the film at last year's U...

Re: Are we ready for an "Upright Film Contest"?
To show photos they must first be online somewhere. In the case below I took an image from my Facebook collection. From the icons above the message space click the icon of sun and a mountain. That inserts two codes between square brackets [example][example] - the codes will be for "img" no...

Re: Are we ready for an "Upright Film Contest"?
The latest FVM raises the question of whether we should accept portrait format films on the basis that huge numbers of people now watch movies on phones or tablets held that way. Do they? In trains I reckon most of the people watching films or tv are holding their devices landscape style. Shooting w...

Re: FVM MAGAZINE - FEBRUARY 2019
I have only just been able to read the latest FVM (Garth's last) and the statement by Mike Whyman seems positive. An interim arrangement to keep the editorial going by Mike and someone else organising the printing and posting. Then advertising for a new editor. I think most of us who have stuck for ...

Re: FVM MAGAZINE - FEBRUARY 2019
As usual Ned presents an interesting perspective ... most of us resist all change, until the new thing becomes natural to us and we cannot imagine life without it. The Australian organisation for non-commercial film makers shut up shop last year, partly because of problems finding people to run it. ...

Re: FVM MAGAZINE - FEBRUARY 2019
My remarks were intended to deal with questions about how the magazine may be produced and who would replace the editor.

Re: FVM MAGAZINE - FEBRUARY 2019
I know what you mean, Cathy, but officers are always reluctant to get into long discussions on the forum, which can sometimes turn nasty. Bear in mind that there is a small team of people working on the committee and they are having to run BIAFF themselves this year. With the judging weekend coming ...

Re: Happy 2019
Languages! Aaargh. In my role as President of UNICA I have to make sure that everything is in English, French and German. (That tells you where the UNICA organisation started.) But in practice I also get messages in other European languages, in Korean, in Russian, in Georgian, in Macedonian and more...

Take a visit to www.unica-web.com and at the bottom right of the home page are links to films from various years. On most annual groups there you can find a selection of WMMC film - which took part in the World Minute Movie Cup. https://filmschoolrejects.com/10-fantastic-short-films-that-are-only-a-...

Re: FVM Editor
I usually do read it all, Peter. Our copy arrived two days ago and it was only there, that I learned of your stroke. Jan and I send you our best wishes for a full recovery - and the patience to keep your energy under control until you have recovered! There is a time-delay involved in any magazine pr...

Mini-DV into Edius Pro 7
I took some mini DV tape in 1998 and have been asked if I could resurrect
it and put it into Edius 7 Pro but all my efforts have failed. Please help
The tape was taken on a Panasonic NV-DS-150
