Re: BIAFF 2018 RESULTS

PLAN YOUR DAYS AT BIAFF The timetable for the BIAFF film presentations is now online at http://www.biaff.org.uk - look under the "2018 festival" menu. The mini-cinemas used on Saturday are on two different floors of the hotel, so allow time to get from one to the other during the refreshment breaks...

Re: BIAFF 2018 RESULTS

The full BIAFF / IAC Competition results are online at http://www.biaff.org.uk as of a few minutes ago. By the end of the weekend, the webmistress hopes to have the timetable of screenings online as well. And no, neither of us knows which films won Best of British or Daily Mail Trophy. http://www.bi...

Re: BIAFF 2018 RESULTS

Just because I am married to the webmaster !

They should go up in a day or so. Waiting for the absolute final, thoroughly checked list from David Newman. (How that man manages to do everything amazes me!)

Re: BIAFF 2018 RESULTS

The Cairn Hotel has a large carpark, Ned. Just remember that when you depart, you must drive on the LEFT.

Re: BIAFF 2018 RESULTS

Glug, glug! We can try to find a time to meet either in the bar or in the conservatory area by the front door of the hotel. When the timetable is announced we can agree a time. I understand that the amazing David Newman, who does so much for BIAFF, cannot take any time off work at present. That mean...

Re: BIAFF 2018 RESULTS

I do not know the answer ... but possibly the notices of results go out in numerical order ... first film entered gets first set of results,

Re: Data protection Act

You will not be surprised to know that exceptions to the normal Data Privacy laws are made for governments and security agencies. I await the advice from IAC Council with interest, but just note that "implicit consent" will no longer be good enough. The person giving you their data (in our case usua...

Re: BIAFF 2018

Who is going to Harrogate for the BIAFF screenings?

Jan and I have booked. I expect that as usual we will rarely be in the same cinema as one another on Saturday ... we can compare notes at mealtimes. I know she also want to get some interviews with film makers for the IAC Website.

Re: BIAFF 2018

From what I hear on the grapevine the problem with paying expenses is not unwillingness by the Treasurer ... but a reluctance by some of the committee to accept them. I am in awe of how much some of the committee give in time, effort and outlay. We should, at least, cover their out-of-pocket costs. ...

Re: Show reel formats

If you have films on a USB stick, is there way to have a menu? My Blu-Ray Player accepts USB sticks but presents the filename of each film complete with file extension like "xxx.mp4" Some club presentation systems have problems selecting the required film. Often a film will start part way through .....

Re: Val Ellis

Val's funeral was very well attended. I think Michael & Linda Gough and Brian Dunckley came from furthest North, while the farthest journey from the South was by Richard and Afifa Rouillard. David Andrew, her long-time friend and club colleague had written a super eulogy, which was read perfectly by...

Re: Val Ellis

Her great friend for many, many years - Gerald Mee - spoke to her on the phone in the morning. She passed away in the afternoon. She was able to stay in her own home, with the support of her sister, until the end. She retained her mental capacities too. Those things would be very important to her. S...
