Re: Authenticism .. or not?
My favourite example of this was back in the days of black-and-white tv ... Scottish Television made a serial version of Rob Roy whose title sequence was a sword-fight over heather and rough ground. They had complaints from viewers because some of the weeds in the grass had not been brought into thi...

Re: THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017
It is often said that BIAFF judges and audiences do not like long films ... but Vermijo was a Diamond winner and thought by many people to be the best of the event and it is an hour long. The much-admired Exploding Heart also got a Diamond and is 32 minutes long. The crucial difference is that good ...

Re: Young Faces at BIAFF 2017
Never having entered BIAFF let alone having a film chosen for screening I do not know ... but don't the makers of films that are being shown get the offer of a free day ticket? I agree that the Young Faces selection was mostly watched by rather old faces such as mine! But we did have a couple of swe...

Re: THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017
Ashleigh Weir, the female lead in "Exploding Hearts" was at Wales High School until the end of the 2015 school year. So she was not significantly older than the character she played. In fact Connor Young who played the male lead is a couple of years older! Rather than get into detailed deb...

SCRIPTS ...
Does anyone remember a short drama script (?By Victoria Wood?) which was made available for general use? I recall seeing two or three versions of it at festivals like BIAFF and Guernsey.

Re: See you at BIAFF
The thread called THE BIAFF FESTIVAL 2017 seems to be getting the majority of responses, so I recommend we stop this one here and all move over to it.

Re: Copying timeline to USB flash drive
Just to clarify ... do you mean export the finished film to a flash drive or save the project for further editing, perhaps on another machine? Usually when you insert a flash-drive your computer sees it and assigns it a letter such as "I:\". Then it can be used just like any other file sto...

Re: BIAFF 2017 Results
I have resisted commenting so far - not least because I am in the middle of lots of UNICA work - but also because I played a small part in the judging for BIAFF. I think Michael sums it up perfectly. This is our hobby, our obsession, our art. We do it because we must. We do it because we enjoy the p...

Re: Projectors & Pacemakers
Peter, what made you worry about this? I have only ever seen a warning about possible problems with pacemakers when wireless projectors are in use - i.e. when the video and sound information is sent to the projector by wireless rather than through cables. Some people may be aware of slight image fli...

Re: SD cards
Thanks for the confirmation, Roy and for a kind word about PC World. (I guess it always depends on the staff whatever shop you visit.) I am no expert in this area so did not comment, but I think development in storage techniques has gone so fast that it is difficult for manufacturers to keep up. Pos...

http://www.ariedejong.eu/unica-web/images/photos/frantic.jpg Thanks, Ian, for that lovely tribute to a remarkable man. I have said elsewhere that he will be much missed, not only in the Czech Republic, but in the whole community of amateur film makers worldwide. I was introduced to him by my old fr...
