Re: BIAFF 2015 entries

Please, Pqtrick! You do not live in Villeurbanne anymore! Mais je comprend. La langue française est très mélodieuse. Ik spreek thuis Nederlands und ich habe Deutsch in der Schule gelernt, but I love English. See you in Sittingbourne.

Re: ONE MINUTE MOVIES

Many thanks, Dave. Mind, this one minute movie was not made by me. The chairman of my club has sent it to all his members. He finds it a good one. I don't know the name of the maker. The title is "De griep" ("The Flu"). It is a good one, but it is not the best movie in the world, I think. Thanks to ...

Re: Je suis Charlie

The permissibility of depictions of Muhammed in Islam has been a contentious issue, Wikipedia says. Oral and written descriptions are readily accepted by all traditions of Islam, but there is a disagreement about visual descriptions. Therefore I have my doubts about the front page of Charlie Hebdo. ...

Re: February FVM - A picture worth a thousand words

I look forward to meeting you in Sittingbourne. Kent is not so far from us I said somewhere else on this forum. I am not the only Belgian who loves England, Michael. There are quite a lot of people on the continent who suffer from Anglophilia. An encyclopedia says that it is an unusual admiration or...

Re: February FVM - A picture worth a thousand words

Many thanks for showing this old film, Peter! I have just started to prepare a documentary called "The Kentish Countryside Remembered". Maybe I will change the title later on. It would be great to find an extract of an old film to call up some powerful memories. Hop picking, shearing sheep, shire ho...

Re: MEET UP DURING BIAFF 2015 ?

This is a message for "Competitions, festivals...", Dave! Very bad of you. I must warn you. I will tell the webmaster! Prettifying? Fine feathers make fine birds! I will do my utmost, but I fear it is helpless. To wear a bow tie or not not to wear a bow tie? That's the question. I remember that in B...

Re: Je suis Charlie

Fantastic cartoon, Dave! Je suis Charlie! You are right. Not only racism is disgusting. Also xenophobia. Therefore I loved the French colours on the façade of the National Gallery and on Tower Bridge today. Let me sing a beautiful German song that I learnt at school about 50 years ago. I would like ...

Je suis Charlie

We will never forget the cruel things that happened in Paris the last few days. Some cartoonists were killed by extremists. The artists had made drawings for their magazine Charlie Hebdo. Tomorrow there will be thousands of people in the streets of Paris to protest against it. Also in other countrie...

Re: Decorations and lights

I forgot to mention the wonderful special effects in this short film, Tim: the flickering little lights flying away. Great!

Re: Decorations and lights

A wonderful film, Tim. I enjoyed it very much. Many thanks for having shown it. I also enjoy a whisky and a whiskey. The first one is Scottish. My favourite whisky is Glenmorangie. The second one is Irish. My favourite whiskey is Paddy. The spelling is different and so is the taste. Look at the labe...

Re: Query on my Sony HXR-NX3.

Maybe you know that I have sold my Sony HXR-NX5 which was three years old. I also had a problem with the time code. I could not solve it. It worked for some months and then it stopped. Very mysterious. As I told you it was a good camera. It was only a bit too heavy and too sophisticated.

Re: We will remember them

I already told you about my wonderful trip to London on the other thread (equipment, etc... 4K cameras). But I forgot to tell you that the day before yesterday (on Tuesday morning) I went to the Tower of London to see the red carpet of 800,000 and more poppies. At first I wondered :"Where have all t...

Re: 4K cameras

My trip to London was fantastic. We had a wonderful time. Last Sunday it was raining cats and dogs all the time. Good that I didn't have my new PX-X70 with me. So we visited the National Gallery. I took a picture of my wife in front of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers". Monday was different. A blue sky from s...

Re: 4K cameras

I have my new tiny camera. My sony PXW-X70. My first impressions: it has a super solid feel all around. As you remember I found my sony NX5 too heavy. This one has a big sensor. That's great. The quality of even the AVCHD-image is stunning. I filmed Vera when she was sitting on our sofa. She looked ...

Re: We will remember them

Many thanks for the information, advice and warnings, Dave. Many thanks for your suggestions, Michael. London is unique in the world. I am sure you can even run naked through the streets of London without being noticed, Dave. Mind: if you ever see an old naked man with a camera and bowler hat in the...
