Re: Time For A Change

Why are we all getting so uptight about age? A film maker is a film maker of whatever age. The young people who have ambitions in the industry DO join clubs. It's the low profile of the IAC that's a problem. Willy's suggestion of young people's competitions would only show up the huge gap in tastes...

people in their 50's (a) are more settled in family, career and home ... Maybe you are right, Dave. In some way I agree with you. I have a new secretary in my Willebroek club. He celebrated his birthday some weeks ago. He was 58 when he joined our club. Now he is 60. I am a very lucky chairman now. ...

Today I received the AMPS-magazine. In it a photograph of an Oklahoma Group of young filmmakers. This is it, I thought. Why don't we give extra room for young cineasts in our magazines and even on this website ? A special "corner" for the ones who are still in their twenties, thirties, for...

Seperate teams under same umbrella organization. What we could try, Ned, is to find young people who are willing to work as seperate teams but under the umbrella of our organizations like AMPS, IAC, CvB, NOVA, etc... They have their own chairman and secretary ... but they are all members of the sam...

d) Try not to make them too hard for people overseas reading the websites and for whom English is not the first language. Dave[/quote] Maybe you thought of me, Dave. Yes, I'm a John Foreigner. I'm very frail. "Frailty thy name is Belgian !". I think that William Shakespeare has written thi...

To the rule of thirds as mentioned by Ian, I can add the 80/20 rule which is a useful guide for shooting landscape scenes. The idea is that the horizon will be either on a line 20% up from the bottom of the frame or 20% down from the top with the remaining 80% being sky or land respectively. You wi...

Time for a Change !

Yesterday I was in Bladel. It's a town in Holland not far from the Dutch-Belgian border. I was asked to show some of my films. My films "An Irish Moment", "Together with Yoda" and "Breendonk" were screened. There were many people. Afterwards it appeared that not only th...

I hate to say it, but I think we can thank the Video games industry for speeding up the wait for the winner, Blu-ray or HDDVD. 8mm or video ? I don't like discussions about Blue-Ray and HD etc... I am a big zero when my clubmates are talking about technical problems and about quality of pictures. D...

Welcome back, Peter. As for the DVD burner - I don't know. The one built in to my edit suite never likes being asked to burn more than one. If I set it to three it quits in the middle of the second one !!! Dave I thought I was the only one with that problem because I am not so good at using my comp...

Re: TIME PASSING

["Dave Watterson"]Maybe it is the change of year ... but I found myself this morning wondering how we can communicate to others the sense of time passing. I hate that clock ! I hate that clock on our IAC website telling us how much time we still have to enter our films for BIAFF ! Finishi...

He's youngest member. He's 23. I wonder why young people like Samuel and a Peter like horror films. I have a rom...
