Re: TALLINN Festival (Estonia) 2015

My film "Master of Time" was screened in the Alfred Hitchcock Room at Sittingbourne (BIAFF). There were only a few people in that room and the technical team had already seen it. To be honest I was a bit disappointed, but maybe I myself would not have visited that mini cinema at that time. There wer...

Re: UNICA Has a new President

Congratulations, Dave! It's quite an honour to be President of UNICA. I don't think there could be a better President than you. How many UNICAs have you already attended all over the world? You have always promoted UNICA in different ways. You are a busy UNICA-bee. I remember that you were a dignifi...

Re: Are Film Competitions a Lottery?

Many thanks for your interesting thread, Jill! I only feel that I must be careful to say some things. They may be interpreted in a wrong way, also because Dutch is my mother-tongue. But it is a discussion forum, so ... Yes, John. Good films always rise like bubbles to the surface. Just like Jill I h...

Re: 'IN MEMORIAM'

Well done, Tony, Very moving. It's amazing that one hundred years ago such dangerous scenes were already filmed. The cameramen were also heroes. Some weeks ago one of our IAC-friends (Ray Williamson) asked me if he could copy my films "Will Ye Go to Flanders?" and "On the Road to Passchendaele" for ...

Re: Clubmate Douglas Boswell toHollywood?

Many thanks for having found this interview, Dave. His English is fantastic, isn't it? He has not changed very much. He is still very talkative. He must be 39 now, I think. Yes, "Nardo"... Douglas enjoys making films for children and very often children are the main characters in his movies. Also in...

Re: Clubmate Douglas Boswell toHollywood?

Now you can see Dougie's film "Labyrinthus" in Japan. Of course subtitled in Japanese. I have seen it on his facebook. I wonder if the Japanese trailer could be shown here on this website. It's strange in Japanese. It's heart-warming that my former club member has not forgotten his roots... BIAFF (d...

Re: BIAFF - the Festival

Of course, I also had a chat with Bob Lorrimor. Again he received a diamond award. He said that he was surprised about this result, but I find it one of his best. Some weeks ago I showed his "Drill" at the première of my own film "Master of Time" in our village hall. You could hear the audience whil...

Re: BIAFF - the Festival

I was very happy that I could attend BIAFF without a moonface again. I think it was the 14th time. Buxton, Chesterfield, Harrogate, Bedford, Weymouth, Norwich, Royal Tunbridge Wells... Sittingbourne was one of the best. Nobody complained about the hotel. It was modern, clean and comfortable. Excelle...

Re: Pay Per View

Yes, you're right, Tim. I can watch films on my TV screen as well which is already much better than on a computer screen. I must tell you that my wife and I live a bit seperated. We are not divorced you know. On the contrary! But most of the time Vera watches TV and I watch my computer screen. Tonig...

Re: Pay Per View

Please, do not kill me. I do not like films on my laptop or on my computer. Ok, it's fantastic that we can watch films on the IAC-website. That's unique! But I still prefer to see films on a wide screen. In some weeks I will show some films in the village hall on a wide screen. I have invited my nei...

Re: BIAFF 2015 RESULTS

Yes, there are some surprises, Dave. I was surprised to see the name of Samuel Faict . He used to be a member of my club. I took him home several times after our club nights. We always had a nice chat in the car. Actually I encouraged him to join a film school (again). That's what he did. His films ...

Re: BIAFF 2015 entries

Patrick is disillusioned. Brian is diasappointed. And so are some other friends. I do understand. Some years ago I was surprised when I saw that "Guernsey, I Love You" got only three stars, because in my opinion it deserved three Daily Mail Trophies. I made that film together with Peter Rouillard an...

Re: BIAFF 2015 entries

My dear Forum-friends. I am very disappointed! I have decided not to attend BIAFF! I hate the IAC and all the judges! I am down. I feel very low... Of course I am joking. I have won the "Daily Mail Trophy" you know. One of my English friends has sent a birthday card to me. On it was a little picture...

Re: "Bakri" in a film by Gérard Depardieux!

Sorry for my spelling in previous message. The name is Gérard Depardieu. Actually in the first place he is a world famous actor. But he is also a film producer.
He is a Russian now who lives in Belgium. Maybe you know the reason. I think that Belgium is a paradise for certain people.

"Bakri" in a film by Gérard Depardieux!

Do you remember my actor Idrissa Mbengue in my film "Bakri" shown at BIAFF in Harrogate some years ago? He played the role of an asylum seeker. It was based on a true story. It really happened in my flat. Iddy was very proud. Afterwards I could read in his curriculum vitae on internet that I had ask...
