Re: Canon HV30
If you're asking the question I think you're asking, then yes, it does seem to be possible. I've just bought an HV30 and wanted to use my 'old' editing programme, which doesn't support HDV. I went to the function menu, selected play/out setup. From there I chose playback std and selected auto. If yo...

Re: Canon HV30
I have been so encouraged by so many of you giving help and advice - thank you to everyone who replied offering technical support and sympathy. I've tried most of the suggestions but so far my camera and pc are still unable to communicate. I spoke to a member of my club who has an almost identical c...

Re: Canon HV30
Thank you Roy. If I manage to get the pc to recognise the camera, I'll be looking for software that can edit HDV, so your note is very helpful. You're right, Studio 9 doesn't work with HDV, so I've changed the settings on the camera so that it downloads in DV format - except that I can't get the cam...

Re: Canon HV30
Thanks Dave - lots of ideas there! I'll look at downloading the S/P2 - not sure if I've already got it but I'll certainly check. Yes, I am using the 4pin - 6 pin firewire (it didn't come with it but I already had one). I'll explore the various 'play' options you mention (yes I was on play, not camer...

Re: Canon HV30
Thanks Tom - but I've tried that as well. I just can't get past the guards who keep telling me the data is invalid. The pc recognises the camera but just won't play.

Re: Canon HV30
Thanks Tom and Ned C - I have Pinnacle 9 and Movie Plus 5 as edit programmes. I have tried going from the edit program but it goes back into the install loop which leads to the AVC invalid data screen. Just connecting up the fire wire and switching on gets me into the 'Found New Hardware' and back t...

Canon HV30
I recently bought this camera but my pc refuses to install it. I am running on Windows XP. The hardware wizard finds the camera, recognizes it and begins the installation. It then says it's an AVC device and after a few seconds' pause, declares that the data is invalid and the installation fails. Is...
