Re: Colour matching two monitors

Thanks Dave.
Maybe I should ad, that the process can be quite time consuming as these things often do, because it is based on repeated choises between alternative settings.
But the final result can be quite satisfying.

Re: Colour matching two monitors

For video picture optimazation I can recommend the set of test patterns from the german company Burosch: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?client=tmpg&depth=1&hl=en&langpair=de%7Cen&rurl=translate.google.com&u=http://www.burosch.de/shop/product.php%3Fid_product%3D2&usg=ALkJrhiRrcR3O...

Re: Zeppelins

You didn't give any details of your new mike.

In general I can recommend to visit Røde for mikes and accessories of good quality at reasonable prices.

In my opinion Rycote is excellent quality - and priced accordingly.

Re: Mini DV tape - the era's end?

Chrisbitz: Why archive back to tape at all? It's relatively extremely slow... I just wish I had the money to replace my beautiful FX1 with something comparable. You don't need to replace your FX1. Just add this drive from DataVideo, http://www.datavideo.info/en/Recorders/DN-60 It will give you all ...

Re: Free NLE program(s)

There are a handful of other video editors around that are totally free but the ones I have looked at are less than user-friendly. Anyone know more? Hi Dave I at once downloaded the program. It look very interesting. I installed it and I have had a first view in the options. It look very profession...

Re: Filters and how/when to use them

With my present camcorder (Panasonic NV-GS400 SD) I have observed that if I keep the filter on the camcorder when mounting the wide-angle lens, it will cut the corners at widest settings. Unfortunately the problem doesn't appear on the lcd-monitor - it is appearently not showing the full frame. So I...

Re: Filters and how/when to use them

Maybe it should be mentioned, that there is a risk for vignetting wideangle shots, if the filtermounting protrude to much.
Since it is another piece of glass in the light path, there is always a risk for more reflections, impact on sharpness etc.
As always a good sunshade can work miracles.

Re: MAGIX Edit Pro 17

I do not understand the quite negative attitude to Magix. I my opinion the basic task when you want to try a new editing program will be to spend enough time. the problem with Magix is, that it in some aspects act different compared to Premiere. But I am sure you all can sort it out. We are comparin...

Re: DVD burners

There is an article explaining many details about dvd quality here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm Allways go for 1st class media. The main difference between media lies in the number of dropouts. Up to a certain limit the dvd-player will add missing bits, so it will play. Best medi...

Re: DVD burners

I allways stick the same brand and type of blanc media. Price does not necessarily reflect quality. I prefer Tayo Yuden - mostly DVD-R. They also perform fine as production masters for mass duplication. Many of the DVD's offered in the retail stores are unreliable - also when they are sold under wel...

Re: Magix movie editor

Hi Roy. I am sorry to learn about your bad Magix experience. For myself I must say, the experience is overall quite good. Since I upgraded my hardware to intel quad processor, I have only had minor problems. In my opinion Win 7 is often to blaim for problems like lockups. I think it is a shame, that...
